What did you drive before your 4Runner

First car was a 1966 ford mustang, 289 mostly stock, fun little car. Still own it but dont drive it, just a project for another day.
Before the 4runner, 2012 tacoma 3in~ lift 285/75 16 bfg's. Sold it before getting stationed in Germany.
Now I have an 02 4runner I got in germany basically stock, hoping to lift and start many other small projects on it here and there once I get back from deployment.

My parents had an '03 Ranger Fx4 when I was in high school. Absolutely loved that thing and raised way too much hell in it. After me jumping/drifting it many a time, my dad (the super careful driver) somehow managed to flip it on a small patch of ice. They picked up an '07 Fx4 Level II after that. Haven't had a chance to drive that much, but it seems like fun.

Like most people I have had a few vehicles. 7 or 8 motorcycles too. Mostly SOHC Honda CBs from the 70s.

'96 honda prelude was my first car.

Then I sold that to get this BMW 328is which I really loved and miss having. A 2 door with a newborn baby was a chore which promptes the sale.

Sold the 328is for a 2016 Rav4 (my first and only new car purchase) wife now drives that one.. She had a 2002 Highlander prior.

Bought one of my fleet vehicles when the motor blew at 319k a 2009 MKS which I fixed and drove for a few years before selling it to acquire my 4runner.

Also had a 1989 Cherokee with 33" boggers and TSLs seen below. Strictly offroad vehicle which was a lot of fun in my early 20s.

Before my ‘05 T4R, I had a ‘05 Tundra and before than an ‘04 tundra, both crew cabs. Really enjoyed those but can’t beat a 4Runner!

Never a Toyota guy

I NEVER owned a Toyota for most of my life. I hated Toyota commercials and thought they were the most annoying vehicles. I was a Ford guy. Had a 88 ford escort in college then went the jeep route in the 90s, jeep wrangler and several jeep Cherokees. Towed my boats and jet skis with no issues. I finally went to a bigger SUV the 2500 suburban then to a h2 hummer for a few years after the that. Finally I went back to a Ford pick up but had nothing but issues with my 150 lariat and 350 super diesel in 07 and 08. Then as I aged and Toyota became a big boy vehicle company and finally made a TRUCK I brought a Tundra. My 08 Tundra made me a toyota believer. It towed my 10k tow hauler with ease and did it with zero issues. My ford super desiel had 4 major failures in 2 years trying to do this job. The wife drove seveal different bmw then she went to the 4th gen then upgraded to the 5th gen but her daily still is my 3rd gen which my son used to drive when he was in hs. Toyota is the 1 vehicle I will buy not lease and keep for a long time because i know they will last with minimal issues.

I've owned too many vehicles in my life to name them all so I'll just do the highlights. First car was a 67 Buick LeSabre that was the family car handed down to me. I've also had: 69 Barracuda with a built 383. Actually have a trophy from the local drag strip that I won with it. I had a 79 Corvette, 79 Jeep CJ5, 80 Toyota 4X4 pickup, 81 Z28, 2 Buick Regals, a Gran Prix, a Nissan Pickup, 2 Pathfinders, 2 F150s, a 74 Corolla that first taught me about Toyota quality. More recently I had 2 2000 Tundras, an F250 Super Duty Diesel an 09 Camry an 88 Wrangler that I sold to buy my 4runner. And my all time favorite vehicle that I've owned since 2009. My 07 Tundra double cab 2wd with 5.7. If it had 4wd it would be perfect. 167K miles and the only non maintenance repair that's been done to it was a water pump I replaced at around 100k miles. I've never been more satisfied with any vehicle. Maybe the 4runner will challenge that if I can figure out the misfire problem I've got right now. I know that was a long list but trust me, I left out a lot of less notable vehicles.

I've owned lots of cars, but here are the SUVs and some other more interesting ones:

• 1999 Ford Explorer - yuk
• 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer - part of me wishes I never sold it
• 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 4x4 (Selec-Trac) - love/hate relationship. capable vehicle but not reliable/durable
• 1966 Ford Mustang coupe - still have it. My son and I built it together.
• 1976 Triumph Spitfire (Federal) - lots of fun, but too small amidst all of the texting soccer moms in their minivans and Suburbans
• 1996 Pontiac Firebird Formula - V8, 6-speed manual, also lots of fun
• 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 convertible - soon, project car in the middle of a restoration

That's correct! My year model was the first model back on what Ford promised to be a "limited production" since the originals in 1968. Theeennn Ford announced they were continuing it, so I sold it before their values dropped from the model continuation haha.

2004 Toyota Celica

Used to drive a 2004 Celica GT-S until a lady decided to pull out of a side street, make an illegal u turn and proceed to flip my car. She walked away without a scratch I walked out with a broken spine. Guess we know who got the shorter end of that stick :brick:

2003 RAV4 that I picked up from a buddy for $1K. The transmission cable was snapped and he just wanted it out of his driveway. I replaced in half a day, and its been my daily since! Great on gas and easy to work on.

Before my current 2007 4Runner, it was another 4Runner. That one held up remarkably well during some highway vehicular gymnastics.

I previously drove a 2000 SR5 4Runner, which I totaled during a black ice sleigh ride in Chicago. I drove it away from the scene of the crime, but it was 14 years old at that point so it was easily totaled, even though it was like brand new....Went and bought a new 2014 SR5, my two sons drive 2005 SR5’s, and my wife drives a 2008 Urban Runner. Yep, I have a whole herd of 4Runners!
