My first car that I bought with my money (the previous two were hand me downs from family) was a 1992 mini cooper with 92 hp and a straight pipe, man it was fast up to 60mph, like a golf cart on steriods... Then I bought a 1992 BMW 525 iX and that was a battle tank (full time 4 wheel drive) Hit several deer with it over a three year period and only knocked a fog light out. The germans can build cars that last. I really miss that BMW... Both cars were European spec so I could not bring them back to the states with me, I had to sell them. The BMW would run 150MPH top end, and that still wan't fast enough to run with some of the newer Autobahn runners... anyway here are some pics, enjoy...

Wow, the original Mini looks even mini-er than the current Mini Cooper. All are very nice cars.

Yeah, funny you noticed, alot of poeple do not realize how small the old mini style really was, when you look at it next to a new mini you can really see the difference. It was as small as a golf cart. no kidding... I could go around 25mph corners at 60mph, would really scare the hell out of my friends. They called it the clown car...

I'm in a 2004 T4R Limited V6 silver/stone. Bought it in 12/06 with 60k miles - great driving vehicle, worst gas mileage (16mpg) of any vehicle I've owned.

Before I this one, I had a 1997 T4R SR5 V6 4WD green/taupe. Bought with 59k at Carmax. It was rear ended and totalled at 240k miles. It was the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned - total repair costs $22 in parts for new starter contactor and $50 for a new front cup holder. I was working insane hours and never took it in for service. It sometimes went 15k without an oil change. I didn't even put a timing belt on it till 170k when I took it in for the rear spring recall. It still had the original plugs, wires, fuel filter, etc and averaged 19mpg. Just shows the abuse these things can take and keep on going.

Before that is was a 1994 TR4 SR5 V6 4WD gold/brown. Very slow and got around 17mpg. Bought at 80k in 1998 and dumped it on Carmax at 120k when the head gaskets went bad in 2000. All my research said dump it instead of going through the painful recall process. Carmax actually gave me over book value for it in filthy conditon with a spidered windshield and bald tires, not to mention the head gaskets. Obviously they didn't bother to pull the dipstick to see the white milkshake!

Before that I had a 1989 SR5 4WD metalic blue/blue longbed pickup. Stole it with 160k for $1,300 in 1995. No repairs except a radiator replacement. Averaged around 18mpg. Needed some body work so I sold it at 270k for $1,000.

I've had few Jeeps and regular cars too, but that's the rundown of my Toyotas. All great in their own way. Very bummed about the mpg on this latest one. It may have to go as gas hits $3.00 again.

Great thread! This is my first post so I will try to be short. I have been trolling the forums for a while.

I did not start driving until I was 21 and have only owned 6 cars. These are the vehicles:

1985 AMC Pacer (learned to drive with it)

1988 Chevy S10 Blowzer 4WD (POS)
1997 Ford Exploder (Fix or Repair DAILY)

I traded in the Exploder for a new 2006 SR5 V6 4WD Nautical Blue 4Runner, purchased June 2006. I am extremely happy with this vehicle. It is far superior to the Blowzer or Exploder I previously owned.

It is nice to have a great forum for T4R owners and I am glad to be a member.

My last two vehicles were a 2003 Ford svt cobra and a 98 explorer with a 5.0l v-8.

Now I get to play with 2006 4runner and my newest toy....a 74 bronco I found in a friends father's shed. He used to collect them and still had a few around. After we talked some he told told me that he's too old to play with them anymore and would sell me the one I bought for $500! I felt like I was stealing it considering it was in reliable running condition, had the a-4 tranny and 302 v-8, Power everything, and 9 inch ford rear with the danna 44 front. It's a two tone brown and white and pretty much all original.

Hey it's been 4 years since I totalled a car... I actually can drive pretty well, used to race go-karts as a kid, then also ran a Legends car as an adult at various tracks around the Southeast for around 5 years. http://www.600racing.com/legends.asp

I suffer from a bad mixture of speed/ adrenaline addiction and lack of judgement. Thankfully, every acident was single car accident that didn't put anyone else in jeopardy. All were a result of pushing the limits of the motorcycle/cars until I ran out of talent, luck, or both.

For every accident I had there were probably 20-30 close calls in which most people would have lost it. It was tough paying the insurance premiums for a long time, but I will always have some killer memories of my wild days. Now I just take all of my risks at the MX track.
