What did you drive before your 4Runner

NEWBIE!!! currently '04 V8 SE 4x4 and '84 camry

i had one too, but never that nice.

Most recently, got rid of a 2002 Nissan Frontier, crew cab long bed, v6 5spd.

I like the 99 4Runner 4x4 limited MUCH better. I always liked the fronty but I love my 4runner!

Ha, you got me beat, I only had one Volare. What a POS that thing was. Had a great anti-theft feature, it would die when you stepped on the gas. I was the only one that could drive it because I knew how to feather the pedal just right to keep it going.

We should start a club. (or a support group. )

1. '84 Honda CRX, overheated if you drove it more than 30 miles
2. '91 Suzuki Samurai, my first 4x4, was a blast, ran like a champ
3. '95 Volkswagen Jetta, college transportation, sold
4. '02 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4, sold it to get the 4Runner
5. '03 Yamaha YZF-R6, had to have a sportbike when I was in college, got it, rode it for a summer, sold it
6. '75 Triumph TR6, bought it to replace the bike, drove like a go-cart, real fast... didn't have time to work on it.. sold it.
7. '01 Toyota 4Runner sport, always loved umm, never wanted to pay what they cost new.. picked mine up certified used.

Only currently have the 4Runner, but always keeping my eye out for a new toy...

My wife had a '84 (I think) Ford Tempo that would stall out if she came to a complete stop. She ran more redlight and stopsigns during that time. She was the only one who wanted to drive the thing. She traded that in for an '87 Celica--quite an upgrade, until it was totaled.

I bet none of you drove anything even close to car I got beck when I was 17......Look at pic below. It was really fun to drive this thing.. Next was 1988 WV Golf 1.6 Turbo Diesel, 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and now 4R........ So far it is the best of all

I'm Italian and that car is a FIAT 126, very popular in Italy!, probably you are from Polland since that name is the name used you that nation.

Anyway my father has still his 1966 Fiat 500 F.

I drove a Grand Cherokee Ltd V8 before the for runner (here in canada)and a Bmw 330d when I was in Italy and before that a Lancia Thema 2.5 TD.

I started out with a 77 Rabbit that I had to push start... then on to a 91 cavalier and then a brand new Subaru Impreza that I traded in after 3 years to get my 4runner!!!!!!!! So 4 cars in 10 years!!!

I went from a 97 civic ex coupe to a 2001 VW GTI VR6 to my 2005 4Runner. The GTI was most fun to drive but damn it, hi cost of ownership and maintenance...and lots of problems! Stay away from VWs.

I think I am a lot older than most on this board and have had many new cars. Bought a Honda Accord in 79..then an 80 civic,Not many people were buying Honda's back then. But after those great cars and they were great bought a lot of American iron. Mostly GM and have to say most were trouble free. The last truck and really my first was a Kia Sorento. It has a frame like the 4runner and true 4wl dr. I needed an SUv because I have a couple of dogs and like to travel to dog shows. So the Kia was an impluse buy...which I really don't do but my wife convinced me to do it. It was a2003 ...and I had my heart set on the new 4runner. But it was more than I wanted to spend and I guess at a weak moment I bought the Kia. Now don't get me wrong ...drove that kia 32000 mi in less than 2 years and it gave me great service, not a thing wrong with it except I wore the lousy Michlin tires out. So I got the bug again and thought it was time to get the truck I really wanted only now the 2005 was ever better than the 03. So I leased the 05 for less than my payments on the Kia which I bought. That convince me to do the deal. Now I don't think you could move me out of this rig . It truly is the best I have ever owned . Got about 2000 mi on it and it getting even better. Its a 6 and maybe should have gotten the 8. Its got plenty of power but now I am thinking of towing a big trailer. Got to keep it for 3 years and I will enjoy it. Haven't found much I don't like...except the cup holders,that stupid door under the a/c controls and the fact that I couldn't get a power seat in my SE. Would have been nice if it had the DRL,photochromatic mirror and the homelink (which I added) as std equip. But what the hey ...just deal with it ,the rest make up for it . This ride is the best of the best..don't know how it could get any better...I am just thrilled.

Really awesome car, but a little underpowered. Also, had to sell it bc it couldnt handle the rough roads in west texas.

I purchased several junk cars before I got my license. I would buy a car for peanuts ($50) and fix it up and sell it for a nice profit. I did this with about 3-4 cars to come up with about $2K for my first car (17 years old). This was a 67 Mercury Cyclone GT, with 427 Cobra engine. It had 2-4 barrel carbs and got about 3 mpg, but it had over 500 hp. Talk about a bad ass gas guzzler. Now I have a blown PreRunner, and a 200 mph motorcycle,

My other truck is an '02 GMC Dually crewcab Duramax diesel with Allison auto transmission. I was commuting in a '93 Dodge Caravan that I inherited from my mom -- and was VERY glad to get rid of that when the opportunity to buy the T4R came along. Gas mileage, leg room, etc etc is sooooooo much better in the T4R
