What do I need for daystar 2.5?

Alright, after some looking around, i caught the bug and decided I'm getting my dad the daystar 2.5 inch f/r spacer kit for our 4runner to go with his new 265/75R16s. What is a diff drop? do i need it. I'm sure that with the longer wheelbase i won't get vibes like my jeep did. What size shocks will go well with it? I'm pretty sure the stockers won't be sufficient.

I would like to know everything I need to know before I purchase it. Thanks guys :fro:

You can fit the 2.5" daystar with your stock shocks, I used to run that set-up. Not the best, but ok for an inexpensive lift. The diff drop is cheap (about $30) and easy to put on (10 min.). It helps alleviate the steeper angle on your CV axles, and yes do it. Some will tell you it's not necessary, but it was on mine (my axles leaked and then the boots tore before the diff drop). If you want new shocks search around, there are lots of threads and reviews to read through.

If you're going to do shocks anyways, lift coils are about $340 + shipping more. subtract the $180 or so from the daystar and for about $160 + shipping more you can have a lot better set up. Check out toytec.com, I got my complete OME suspension for $699 + shipping (no tax) - 4 shocks and 4 coils of your choice.

Either lift will look fine with 265/75R16s, but 285/75R16s look better still. And get an alignment after the lift. You may want to pick up an adjustable pan hard bar from Sonoransteel.com to counter the offset of your rear axle - not absolutely necessary, but will keep the rear end from feeling squirrely and make sure the rear axle is still centered. You can add this later too if you want.

Great info, thanks for that. It's a bit of a mall crawler hence why I would only go for the spacers :lmao: Although, i may just get a small 1 inch body lift instead, less work and it doesn't mess with angles and all that.

Just got the call from my buddy, we're gonna do it at my old work (he still works there) which is a boat mechanic shop. It's indoors so no snow to deal with, warm, and I think I'll use the fork lift to raise the body to make it nice and easy. I'm really excited to see how it looks.

Will you have to adjust t case linkage or anything?

You just loosen the linkage on the tranny and the steering shaft rag joint before and tighten again after. That's for the 1", but when you get into 2"+ I'm not sure. I'll be posting pics on my thread:
