What do you miss most?

What do you miss most when you're driving a car other than your T4R?

My car is at the dealership getting the sulfur TSB performed on it and I'm currently driving a Corolla. Well the thing I miss the most is the automatic ignition. I forget what it's actually called, but the feature where you can just turn the ignition quickly and release the car starts up. On the Corolla you have to "crank" the ignition for it to start. I feel like a dork when I just turn the ignition quickly and nothing happens. Also I find myself hitting the imaginary parking brake with my left foot. Another thing I miss is the steering wheel controls. I actually have been driving around with the radio because of it.

But, the thing I miss most is the electronic ignition...

Thats funny. I do the exact same things....and in my girlfriends Corolla S too. Other than that, the power is the thing I probably miss the most when I am driving a car like the Corolla or even my parents Explorer. Maybe that is an obvious one, but it is what I miss the most when I drive other cars.

I know what you mean, I switch off between a 99 Corolla LE and my 4Runner and I do miss a lot of stuff my 4Runner offers. But the thing I find myself really wanting is the power. I miss everything about my 4R when I'm in the Corolla.

I do wish my 4Runner had automatic headlights. I can't get over how a $15k economy car has automatic headlights, but my $30k 4Runner doesn't. I'm also a little peeved that the new Camry's and RAV4's have standard steering wheel audio controls but my 4Runner doesn't.

Automatic headlights? The damn thing was beeping at me when I left the headlights on.

My 4Runner has automatic headlights. I leave them on all the time. When I leave, I hit lock on the key fob twice and the doors lock and the lights turn off. If I don't hit the key fob twice, the lights turn off within 30 seconds.

The power I do miss as well. I talked to the dealer and I'll be able to pick up my truck tomorrow. Hopefully this gets rid of the rotten egg smell.

Both of your peeves I have. I guess they are Sport/Limited features. I would have thought they would at least put auto headlights in all the models. That Sucks. I completely agree with you.....if a Corolla's got it, then your 4runner should too.

I leave mine in AUTO all the time. Do you just leave yours ON or in AUTO?

I don't like leaving my headlights in the ON position all the time nor do I like having them on in the daytime. I have my DRL's for that purpose and I hate how the headlights turn back on before you actually crank the car again. With the Corolla, I just leave my switch in the off position and the lights turn on by themselves and turn off once I shut off the ignition, much simpler.

I miss a lot of the things on my 4Runner when it is in for service. The main thing I miss is the height. I hate being so low to the ground when driving. The second thing I miss my auto dimming mirror. I never realized how useful it really is until I don't have it. In addition, the little things I miss are the audio controls and the back windshield. I hate those damp mornings when I have a sedan and the back window is all wet.

Totally agree. Have mine in a garage since yesterday :( and traveling in cars realy feels like sitting on the road.

Hopefully will recover it tomorrow.

wow lots of corolla drivers here...i have a 94 corolla dx and i know how all of you feel except for the auto headlights.....i don't care to use them, and i don't like how they switch on and off in tunnels.

Luxury - I don't have auto headlights on my truck, I just leave it on all the time. I figure if it keeps me from getting into an accident then it's worth it.

For me it's losing the familiarity I have with my Runner.

The other is tightness of suspension. It may not be a Z06, but the suspension is leagues ahead of a 2003 Suburban.

I also miss my simple climate controls and radio buttons.

I know what you mean, I did that with my mustang, for the same reason. Except I manually did it out of habit. I think with the 4runner I will add DRLs before I leave the headlights on during the day. Plus, when my headlights are on, my NAV is forced into night mode. But I agree with your logic.

I miss the ride height... I feel like I'm in a go cart when I'm in a rental car... I like the extra view of the road from riding higher.

You guys all have new runners so I hope you don't me chiming in, but I feel like I'm sitting in a kiddy car when I'm riding in our Cavalier or my Parents Hyundai.

I also miss how tight the engine is...

Bro, no need to feel like the odd man out just because this board is geared towards 4th genners. We appreciate all members here, well I like to think so anyways and that's how I feel.

Thanks :D

I hope I can come up with the $$ for a new one some day. Not to start a war or anything, I do like the looks of the older runners, but I would prefer the security and warrenty of a new one. Oh well, maybe someday :-)

I miss the ease of backing up; you can see everywhere out of the back of a Runner. But you cannot, however, see so well from the back of a solara convertable as i accedentally backed my moms into a tahoe the other day :bash:
