What do you think of the changes made? Bought it new back in March '02.
2002 4runner SR5 - leather

Started updating it back in Apil '10 and been kind of hooked - I think I'm done.
Looked at the new ones a few times and if I were to buy any new car - I'd get another 4runner - but I love mine too much to part with it just yet. Plus I have low miles - just hit 80K in the past 2 weeks so I'm probably keeping it for another 5 years (at least).

Clear corner and signals, tail light & 3rd brake light, new grille, mod center caps, clear bug guard, new antenna - manual - they keep braking, painted wind deflector, weather tech rain guards and forget the brand - clip on sun roof guard, pioneer stereo - cheap but wanted to play ipod (it all started w/ this), new hood and rear chrome bumper (they all seem to rust out), custom grille logo I modified, piaa wipers and bulbs, new mats inside, '03 tacoma skid plate

Clean!! I just hit 83k miles on my 4runner. I like the front badge, what material did you use? Looks like carbon fiber

Very clean Runner!!!

I like the grill inserts! Where did you find them??? I made something similar out of aluminum lathing.

wow, VERY CLEAN! I wanted to paint the rear spoiler and yours gave me exactly the convincing in needed to do it!

thanks - i took the pics right after the car wash today. and maybe it sounds funny but on the rims i sprayed wd40 - my father in law told me about this - great on chrome too - good shine.

the badge is backed w/ silver carbon fiber. i traced out the oval emblem, cut a piece of plastic, glued the carbon fiber paper on the oval then screwed the logo back on. i'm gonna redo it w/ a thin piece of metal instead of plastic.

the grille i bought from burtman industries - it uses a bunch of really sturdy metal clips and clips from behind.

spoiler

thanks - i color matched the paint (code inside the door jam or under hood - i forget) and ordered a few cans of paint from r&e paint supply (on web). you probably on need 1 can but i wanted extra for some touch up. then i used a clear coat.

when i was done the red third brake light looked weird b/c everything was silver so then i ordered a chrome third brake light from autoanything. i've seen them on ebay cheaper than what i paid.

ALBPM - grille

your grille looks just as good - i didn't think of trying to do that myself - i like how you also did the lower part of the bumper

hey rob

your truck is one of the cleaner examples i've seen. looks great!

personally im not a fan of the aztella (sp?) tails but they seem to work on your ride.

keep us updated

ps you north or south jersey? ever take it offroad? looks too clean, need a pic of it in the woods~!

twa

nope - a few years ago i was letting it go - i wanted to take if off road but now i've sunk too much into it to scratch it up and want to keep it clean.

north jersey.

i hear ya on the tail lights - some colors don't work w/ the lights - mine matches and i can always pop the old ones back in if i want to mix it up.

i think i'm done w/ updates for now - but you never know.

i was looking at the jaos spoiler but i've read it clips on kind of cheap and don't want to do something i'll regret. don't know if it's worth the $ and possible headache

does the clear deflector ever rub against paint? If it doesn't, I think I'm gonna get one for the sole purpose of preventing my hood from getting rock chips.

My main gripe with the OEM style (I know AVS doesn't but they're too big for my liking) is rubbing against the paint. I ran one for one day with my old hood and it screwed that paint up. Glad it wasn't on my sport hood.

cob - bug guard

i haven't had a problem. i had it on my old hood from last aug till this june. my sport hood is brand new and i haven't seen any issues and i hope i don't. just note this bug guard is very narrow. looks sleek but they also offer a wider clear bug guard (also on truckchamp site) and that one may protect you more than this one - but i wanted this look - don't like the fat wide guards. i had a black lund and gave it away ( was also trying to chrome plate it but it didn't work).

Wow Rob!! You and I are among the few here that were the original owners of our 4-Runners.

I bought mine in August 2002. I actually bought two Toyotas that same day. A Pre Runner for my wife and the 4 Runner for myself.

We still have both and have no desire to give them up yet...:thumb3:

Nice rig mate. What did you have to do to make the Taco front skid plate mount? I have a 2001 Sport and am looking to add the skid plate to mine. Thanks!
