What do you think??

I have a 98 4runner that has 139k on the engine. I've developed a viberation that is very slight until you get to 60 mph and then you for sure know it's there, when you hit 70 it smooths out but can still feel it . I took it to my mech. today and he thought it was my engine because as we were driving down the road at 65 he told me to put the clutch in and it stopped so he said it wasn't my drive train. Anyone got any ideas??Thanks Jeff

Sorry to be picky but if you put the clutch in i'd say it's either your drive-train or your engine. Its definitely not your suspension/wheel balancing etc. theres probably a good chance its somewhere in the drivetrain because the clutch will let everything freewheel. I haven't heard any common big problems with anything in the tranny tho id check your bearings around the drive shaft etc.

Check the driveshaft U-joints for excessive play. Also check the CV joints.

And just to be sure, check to make sure the tires are balanced.

These are some simple things, and are easy to check, and cheap to fix--minus the CV shaft. Hopefully it's nothing serious

It was the rear u-joint. The guy was giving me worst case. I didn't sleep last nite, bass-turd. Thanks to those who replied.

thanks for telling us

Coho thanks for letting us know what it was-that way we can all get a little more knowledge for when it may happen to us

Appreciate you closing the thread out like that-I hate it when we are left hanging and wondering.... :bigok:
