If it's a real trail and not just a bumpy gravel road (which some think is 4 wheeling) it's in 4lo all the way and I engage my locker as needed.

im with ronmaiden on this one, as long as its real offroading im in 4lo, if im on a gravel road then im prob. going too fast and am thinking im in a subaru while in 4hi

Which is best for like nature trails? (Small creeks, small logs, 2 inches of mud, etc.......extreme but DOWNSIZED).

If you anticipate anything seriously challenging it's best to already be in 4Lo before you hit it. But for run of the mill forest trails (at least here in Fla where it's pretty flat) 4Hi is usually sufficient. However, with my 5 spd stick the 1st gear crawl ratio in 4Hi is much better then for the 1st gear crawl ratio in 4Hi on the auto tranny (at least for the 3rd gen) so if I had an auto I would probably be more quick to stick it in 4Lo. If I spot some mud holes or something then I'll stick it in 4Lo before I get there

I'm on vacation in Florida right now and my mom's boyfriend who wheels here and has wheeled in Colorado says Florida doesn't have too much that requires 4lo since there isn't really any ascents or descents. He misses real wheeling.

Oh man, I'd love to go off roading in CO. There aren't really any hills around here Although I do remember an old sinkhole that Thai and I stumbled upon many years ago in a quasi-off limits part of the Wekiva Springs State Park - that was fun

even at moving at around 2 mph an hour.
It feels as if the engine is fighting with t-case to move...

Colorado Trails

A little off topic, but for you guys looking for info on Colorado trails I recommend this site.

I run a stock '97 4 Runner and can't really do any trails over a 4 difficulty level. Not really extreme or even "great" trails, but still a good time.

This was the last trail I did last year, just a 2, but still bounced around a bit. Once I reached the top I got to do some fishing in the lakes and hike around a bit.

youre kidding right?

thats because youre in Low-Low.... which means you have 1 gear and youre geared low.... so you are trying to crawl... which is what you want if youre really wheelin (rocks! )

I kid you not.

Gear Select is still in drive.
Even then I don't crawl.
And when i tap the gas, The engine revs to high haven.

Granted when I gun it though the RPMs get put to good use.
