What does "Rear Anti Lock" mean on a '94?

My 1994 4X4 V6 T4R has a light in the instrument cluster that reads "Rear Anti Lock". It lights up momentarily with the other lights (like "engine check", "rear window", etc.) when I start the car. The light has never come on at any other time. There is no other sign that my truck has ABS. It sure doesn't feel like I have ABS when I drive on snow and ice. If I hit the brakes hard (usualy to test how slick the road is) I go into a full-on skid.

What does this light mean?
Does a 1994 usually have ABS?
Would I be able to feel something obvious when I stomp the brake on snow/ice if I did have ABS?

the light means that you do have just as it says: rear anti lock breakes. how long to you skid when you test the road and how fast do you go? i think it is safe to say that the abs on the older 4runners isnt as sofisticated as on newer vehicles, so it may not engage as quickly.

Yeah they've got just rear wheel ABS but I wouldn't trust it to stop you on the ice. Helps a little though.

When ABS is working you will feel a pulsating in the pedal.

ya that rear abs is such a great idea see what happen to my 91 front wheels lock up means no turning

Well that's too bad, the 4 wheel ABS works great on my Isuzu Trooper, whether it's in 2wd or 4wd.

ABS is great if it's implemented correctly.

Rear ABS

The rear ABS does not work in 4X4 only 2wd sorry, read the manual.....

Not sure about the module but the relay is tucked up by your front wiper motor on the passenger side of the engine bay, mounted to quarter panel.
