What does SR5 mean, anyone know?

use to mean back in gen 3 and previous that you got the v6 motor and all power options. Current it means a V6 or V8 all power options .

A friend of mine in college had a 1978 Toyota Corolla SR5.
It was a 2 door with a 5 speed tranny. The car had well over 100K miles on it when it met it's untimely demise (totalled in an accident).
My friend was okay and purchased a new Corolla SR5 4 door and drove it for years (200K+ miles) until he got married and needed a larger vehicle.

Interesting to note he never, ever, had a problem with either Corolla.
