Wonder if Thai has seen this video, boy they really made the G-wagon look bad!
 
i assure you that the H2 is quite an off road machine...the problem is its size. The H3 is damn impressive with its skills..its just ghay looking and underpowered...and made by the general's monkeys.
 
That is false!!! A Hummer would break down before it can conquer all that.

Isn't the H2 just a reskinned Tahoe? Every review I've ever seen or read about the H2 has been miserable, whether its the MPG or offroading capability. Blah.
 
Yes, it is a reskinned Tahoe. GM bought the rights to the Hummer name and put it on a Tahoe platform. It also looks like they tried to get some of the cars stuck, with the hummer they let momentum do the work. I don't think the tires on the hummer are stock, they look to beefy(I could be wrong). It is really hard to believe that the Hummer beat out all of the other cars in everything. I have seen many of the other cars off road and I am sure they are more capable than that.

i agree, the video is obviously biased and is more propaganda... but then if it belongs to H2, then what do you expect?

they should of discontinued h2/3 and just kept on going with the legendary humvee.
 
The video is rigged. Remember, the other SUVs in the test have street tires on. But, this comparo was stock vs. stock and this is where H2 has it's advantage (big AT tires), just like why a stock Jeep Rubicon is the best in the world off the showroom floor.

For my defense, the driver of the G500 clearly did not lock his lockers (you can see the front tire not spinning at all!). And you did not see much G500 in the video because most of the obstacles can be done in a stock G500.

One of the funny thing is that they show a G500 going into the pool but pulled out because the water came up to the grill. Well, the person doing this comparo was clearly not informed. The air intake for the G500 is on the two sides, at the top of the fender. So, water ingestion is likely not gonna happen with a bow wave. In addition, G500s come with breather tubes on all of it's major components and they are routed to the top of the engine bay...as high as the side engine intakes.

And in most of the video, you see the Hummer H2 speeding up an obstacle, while the other SUVs were going slow. This is bogus because they are clearly using momentum to enhance H2 which needs it badly due to it's porkly weight. Lack of momentum + stock street tires = stuck.

Good video production, but unfortunately, it's bias...and clearly shows how desparate H2 owners are at proving their rig's status.

Too late. As of 12/06, the civilian Hummer H1 is no longer produced. Therefore, Hummer brand will only sell H2 and H3's from now on...and maybe H4 in the future.

The H2 comes with BFG AT KO tires from factory...and i think that they are 35" too. The H2 is a heavily modified Tahoe platform. GM did do a good job with the off-road modification of the Tahoe platform to make the H2.

IMHO, Hummer did a better job at modifying their Chevy platforms than Toyota did with the FJ Cruiser and the 4runner/Prado/GX platform.
 
I personally like the H3's but doubt if I will ever own one,has to much of the "look at me feature " to it. ...lol underpowered ect...


Also remember that the course it is on was specifically designed to barely clear the Hummer limitations ( i mean barely ) therefor any type of deviation in that will have a problem. this was staged to do exactly that. H2's are just big pigs IMO.

I do agree with Thai about GM doing a good job at modifying the Tahoe and the Trailblazer/Colorado platform for the Hummer line.

The only competition they'll ever win is making it slightly further than your neighbors Land Rover before you both call the flatdeck.
 
:iagree: with Northof49, H2 or H3 same 'ol **** just a different sized pile.

Yeah, they should also include the number of extra jerry cans they need to take along while wheeling since they get like 6-8mpg.
 
not really a fan of the H2 or H3.

however, one of my dream SUV's is the original Hummers. before all the hype and remodelling. i need to own a black or grey humvee some time in my life.

Ah-nold's favorite ride :p
