What happened to "What I did to my 4runner today"!?! Also, suspension borked

Well it's been a hot minute since I've been on here. I drove over a pot hole the other day and the bottom washer busted on my strut. The piston on the shock now moves freely up above the top hat.

Eibach Pro Truck Stage 1 was installed by the previous owner, and I received no paperwork when I purchased the car, so mileage on the struts is unknown.

I found two bushing/washer kits in the cubby hole, and after some investigation, they're for Toytec shocks, but I went into a local Eibach supplier and confirmed that the washer in the Toytec will fit on the Eibachs.

Current situation is I'll have to pull the coil and install the washer as a stop-gap solution.

Cheapest solution for new struts is to re-use my Pro Stage 1 coils. I just bought two new Pro struts from a store in Canada for around $400 for the pair. I also purchased OEM top hats off Amayama for $140 for 2, which is the price for one top hat at ANY North American store. (All in Canadian $)

My 4runner friend suggested Bilstein's with OME coils (as he runs them), but I wanted to stick with what I already have, and they were a few bucks cheaper.

I was saving up to get a 270 Awning off Alibaba, but I guess that is on hold now.

Just wanted to share my situation.

This morning my battery decided it had had enough amd died. Had to replace it.the duralast lasted 8 years, which says a lot. I bought an interstate from costco 27F model.

I have the same kit. P. sure it has a lifetime warranty but I don't know if it is transferrable. Worth asking.

Unfortunately the warranty doesn't transfer over to new owners, but I've got a new set of shocks on order, so those will be warrantied. Might as well replace the top hats since the rubber on it is cracking, added that to the cart.

After some trouble, I was finally able to get my one strut out, but the spring compressor set I borrowed off my friend are too big to fit through the coils. So, that was another purchase off Amazon, and my car rests on stands until tomorrow when I can install the new washer.

In the process of removing bits and parts, I may have threaded the castle nut for the tie rod end. Pre-emptively ordered a set of tie rod ends..... and while I was browsing, I added sway bar end links to the cart as well.

.... all because of one washer. And let's not forget about the hole that the piston just punched into my wheel well today, but Mr JD Weld will be able to plug that up well.

I love my aging vehicle.

Amayama is currently my best friend.

Use your floor jack under your LCA as your spring compressor, much simpler and quicker then using a spring compressor.
