I've been talkin to Tom Mertz (Mertztr) and he said the hard drive apparently crashed. They hope to have it up by tonight....

in there defense i think they have alot of members, and who knows how many visitors, they have been doing alot of up grades lately, i like both site,,, yotatech seems to have more of OFF roaders, as here is more of ON roaders, not to take anything away from either, both are great sites in there own way.

You know... I was thinking the other day about how there needs to be an on road 4Runner site because every time someone says anything about something on-road over at YT they get :whipping2 :uzi: :sniper: :flmthrwr: :chnsw: :cannon: :boxing: :bash: :50cal:
I think you get the picture. Its just an off road forum, main page states that its an off-road forum and on road guys get flamed all the time and they still post stuff and then get all to all his own, well yeah. But thats like going to a ford forum and showing them your new Silverado SS and how cool and fast it is. It might be a great truck. You might have a great mod that has never been seen before. But post it in a place where people are going to apreciate it. Espcially with the 4th gen out which is definately designed with more of an onroad its inevitable there will be more pavement only 4Runners out there and everyone needs a good internet forum. I was a member of YotaTech when there were basicly 30 people that would talk back and forth. Personally I like small forums. You always get problems when there are too many people, and you get to know people better when there are less BS questions like "What Lift" that are asked 10 times a week. Oh well, things change. I just thought this the other day and seeing this thread made me think about it again.

Yes, Yotatech is back up. I like the site, it has a lot of good tech write ups. Yes, it is mainly for off roaders, but I have learned a lot from the site.
Being a moderator for this site, I would say most people here are very nice. I don't think I have deleted a single post because of profanity yet. And their is hardly any feelings hurt on this site. I also like being able to talk about anything, good or bad dealers, procucts, etc. I have notice this site has more members from the 3rd or 4th generations.
I have noticed people posting on both sites, which I think is good. I would like to see more members for both sites. And yes, www.toyota-4runner.org is my favorite site, of course I am somewhat biased.

that may be true, but i bought my 4x4 to go 4 wheeling, not to get groceries, lol, if i dint plan on wheeling, i would have bought a 4x2 not a 4x4, no i wont be puttin 20`s on mine, lol, but i have seen a few that do look good, and yes, ill stay a member here as long as i can, but will be more on the yotatech, as it fits my needs better for the off road info. this is a great sit and Thai has replied to my posts very fast, which is awesome, he has alot of info that he likes to share, which is great, i wish nore people in the world was like that.

I think that each forum does serve it's purpose. This is from our Welcome statement:

I have to agree with your mission statement. You guys have met your goals!
I like both sites just like eveyone else. I'm a bit more into off roading but not a serious rock crawler. I always say that "I just like to get away".
Since it is my only vehicle, my 4x4 is a grocery getter, commuter as well as off roader so I don't really buy into any kind of arguments pro/con for SUV usage.
This is my second suv and I buy them because they can do everything well. Cars can't , minivans can't but trucks can! I LOVE my 4Runner (I'm gushing now!
) because it feels like a luxury car, 4x4, sedan, cargo hauler and tow truck all in one.
I used to own 2 cars (one truck and one luxury car or sports car) but NEVER again. I felt too guilty and it just felt like a waste of money. I really never miss anything with my 4Runner anyway.
Anyway, I like Yotatech and I like 4runner.org It is awesome that we have 2 great forums just for the 4Runner!! I learn new things on both so it's money in the bank.

I've owned nothing but GM my entire life and decided enough is enough playing constant weekend mechanic! So, I purchased my first 2007 T4R last November and immediately wanted to learn more about it. I love love love my T4R. After I joined this forum and started reading the posts here daily, I new I had purchased a vehicle that would be very reliable and provide me years of enjoyment.
Instead of reading about problem after problem like on the GM-Trucks forum, I was pleasantly surprised to not see it here. Instead of members constantly having to fix their T4R's to keep them going, they are modifying them to their personal preference and actually enjoying their vehicle......the way it should be.
As with most forums I belong to, I enjoy taking lots of pictures and sharing my experiences with others. A picture truly is worth a thousand words.
