What have I done??? Sold the 3rd gen...

Since I bought the '08 in November I've been draggin' my feet about selling the 3rd gen. But tonight she finally went.

'00 SR5, V6 4WD, Desert Dune, tan cloth interior, sunroof, tow package, 265/75/16's on stock alloys, deckplate mod, upgraded headlights and fog lights, 152,000 wonderful miles and more...

Sold her for $5,500

GEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, I'm gonna miss that truck...

Guess I'll just have to pay more attention to the '08!

I feel you. Kinda. I LOVE my 04, but sometimes I wish I had bought a kick ass 3rd gen instead as my first car.

Sounds like somebody got a pretty nice ride! And at a good price... Based on some of your posts I suspect it was in good shape and well maintained.

I'm sure they are as thrilled to have the '00 as you are to have the '08

Last month I was driving the 04 4Runner and I thought what is wrong, ahhh yeah, I am bored. Sure, it drives smoother, but I find myself wanting to drive the 01. They both have their strong points, but lets face it, the 3rd gen. is just more fun to drive.

I know in a few months, the 3rd gen. will be given to my son, but I tend to still drive the 3rd whenever I can. I now drive the 04 on a daily basis, but I try and find excues to use it.

Don't get me wrong, the 4th gen. is a fine car, the 3rd. is just more fun.

I roger those sentiments. my 97 SR5 took me all over Arizona..........I had a blast and never a problem........gave it to my daughter and she traded it in to get a new vehicle (Jetta) for her commute. Right thing to do Right reason to do it but dhang I miss that truck...:bash:

Well, I figure that now with the 3rd gen gone, I'll be more inclined to mod the '08. The first 3 things I may do are a CAI, upgraded shocks (I had Bilsteins on the 3rd gen and loved the tight ride) and the Borla exhaust with the dual outlet pipes.

I had tried to keep it in the family but my son's have their own cars and I have the Mustang to play with too.

Yeah, my 3rd gen will be remembered, more than my 2nd gen.

Man, you know I thought I'd miss my 02, but after having my 08 for a while there's no comparison. Really don't even miss it.

I agree with you that the 4th gen is superior in many ways but I remember screamin' across a dirt road shocking to stops and spinning donuts on oversize Michelin tires MLX in the 97 not sure if my 4th gen would be as shall we say "flexible"?

Wow sounds like a very low price. Hard decision to make for sure but if you would have made it earlier and did a trade in you not only may have gotten more but saved tax on the new one as well. When I bought my 4th gen I thought I would sell the 3rd gen privately within the first year after I took some time to get the modding done on the new one...but now I can't pull the trigger to let it go.

Yeah, that's how I felt, too. But I'm single with 3 cars (including the 3rd gen) plus a boat and my work assignment is coming to an end and I'll need to be able to relocate without hauling 3 vehicles. A friend at work had a hardship so I cut him a break, although bluebook on the truck was only about $800 over what he paid. He thinks he got a deal and so do I. These trucks are tough to let go of.

I'm really enjoying the '08 and hope to mold her a bit more to my liking. Time will tell if she's the war horses that my '00 and '90 were.
