What if? Need heads? If so - where?

OK...I will make it short. I suspect I have a small head gasket leak after 279K. I am thinking of pulling the heads and sending them off to be checked, cleaned, etc. (Anyone know a place?)

IF the heads don't check out,...then I will be looking for re-man's with a GOOD warranty. Anyone know a place?

There is no way on God's green earth I will put aftermarket heads (if needed) in this truck......

Sorry I am late responding to this. I have been neck deep in a house restoration. (That's a story for another day....)

I suspect a possible HG leak as when I start the truck and back up, I have the faint smell of coolant. I am keeping a daily "eagle's eye" on the coolant level and there does not seem to be much of a change. However, the smell is coming from somewhere. With 280K+ miles on her, I plan to keep her for at least another 280K! I adore this rig. It is the best damn vehicle I have EVER owned!

Thanks for the recommendation on the "Odessa" heads. They have 5 year warranty which is impressive. One place I called wanted twice the price for a 12-month warranty......

I am going to go out on a limb and say it is probably a coolant line that initially leaks until your engine warms up, then all is good.

If you could smell coolant and had a HG leak, you would know it, there would be no guesswork involved. Just lots of white smoke.

Not to feed your OCD but what coolant lines have you replaced on your 4runner?
