what is an 07 V8 low mileage really worth

Long time Subaru/Nissan guy looking to make the switch to a 4Runner. Prices here in the NW seem to be rather high for these cars, I would like to get a one with low mileage and good maintenance history. It will be our "baby carrier" that wifey will drive daily, and she has a short commute. I came across an 08 one owner, V8 Limited, completely loaded model with 16k on the clock. Guy literally ordered it with all options, including extended warranty, he paid 49k for it. What is it worth, he seems to want 28k or so for it, that seems high to me. Any thoughts am I off thinking this is overpriced?

4wd, and fully loaded, and in brand new shape, he emailed me sticker - V8, AWD, nav with the rear DVD's, BT, heated seats, tow package, all maintenance up to date, and he is firm at 29k. Car was 48k new.

That seems like a pretty steep price. A check of edmunds shows a fully loaded 07 Limited V8 comes in at about 22,500 for a private party sale (in the Portland area).

I just bought an 06' Limited AWD V8 w/ NAV for only 18K. It had 69,000 on it though, and it was a single owner.

Not sure if you have a lot of choices up there, but the 4.7 drive train is bulletproof, so I wouldn't worry about low mileage. Just check the water pump and exhaust manifolds otherwise, should be good to go.

He spent almost 50 grand on a midsize SUV and only put 2,500 miles a year on it? Holy crap. Must be nice to be wealthy.

With that kind of mileage it may be worth $24K or so honestly.

Honestly, it is only worth, what YOU are willing to pay for it.. If you want to pay 30 for it, and at the end you think you profit from all the safety features, the creature comforts, and the good times you spend traveling in it? Then by all means.. IT was well worth it!!!!

Clean and all, but as you guys said, I think 24k is fair, and at 30k, it is getting up there. Plus, I value the low mileage, but all those add on features are not really must have's for me. Back to more research, the good ones tend to sell fast here in the NW.

Way over-priced. This is not a hot-rod from the 60s, this is a mid-sized suv. Cars lose around 50% of their value if not more within 5 years no matter how many miles/condition. You can discount a small percentage for wear/tear. This thing is closer to 20k than 30k. Now if this was a 2009 trail edition that might be a different story considering the rarity (blistien shocks, e-locker, and waterproof seats, FJ in disguise)

The case here is the guy was foolish enough to buy it from some dealership that took him the cleaners and now he is trying to find another sucker to get his money back.

The old saying goes, "there is a sucker born everyday".

Being that you are switching brand, I (or have your wife) would drive each model (SR5, limited, Sport) to see how each handles as they're are some different "characteristics" with each- Leather vs. cloth, X-reas vs. stock suspension are just two of them.

When we got my wife's 08 I was not a big fan of the seats (cloth), but really like how the leather seats are in my 06 (Limited).

My friend traded in a similar loaded 07 V8 4x4 4runner 30k mile on a Prius. The dealer gave him $26K on trade. I think if it is really clean and nice it will bring around $26k. Really nice used later model 4th gens are getting hard to find.

That's a LOT of money for that vehicle. "Premium" features depreciate most quickly and this guy seems to think you should still be paying a premium for them as if the vehicle had just rolled off the production line (factory GPS in these vehicles is lame unless you clip the VSS wire and the other technology features are now 7 years out of date). A quick check online and I see brand new 4Runner Limited 4x4 for $38k and SR5 4x4 for $31. I bought my '07 in 2010 with 35k miles on it for under 20k. I could see that vehicle being worth something in the low 20's. It's the drivetrain that makes up a large portion of what holds value over time in the 4Runner, NOT the bells and whistles!

In the end it IS worth whatever whatever you'll pay for it. Whether or not the owner will sell it for what its worth to you is the question.

I bought mine in March of last year and it only had 21k miles and I paid $23k.

I did, however, buy it from a Nissan dealer so it is not "certified" and doesn't have that coverage.

Just for reference:

My insurance company just gave me $22K for my totaled 06' LTD 4X4 with every option but navigation. It was in excellent condition with Sport hood and 95K miles.

Some good advice, thank you. I dont really care much for extra options and extended warranties as long as the car is in very clean and in good shape. NOt sold on the V8 either, 6 will be just fine. Great cars though, reading through reviews everyone seems to love 4Runners and with basic care and regular maintenance it should do the job for a while. I don't like the new ones, but 4th Gen look great!

Yes, there's a difference between 16K and 46K, but there's also the Generational difference too (4th gen vs 5th gen)

That is on the upper end for that, but it won't surprise me if he gets its. Tacomas and 4Runners hold their value so well, I've never been able to justify buying used - if I've got to give that much for it, I'd just as soon buy a new one for myself and be done with it....

When I was shopping this winter for a used V8, I noticed that the Limited prices actually seemed to be lower - but maybe that's because I was looking for a specific trim/color and didn't want nav or leather. Or maybe they're just more popular and are more of them out there.

Anyway, I paid just under $18,000 for my 2007 V8 Sport and it had about 65K on it. I also had to drive to Missouri in a snowstorm to get it, but it was worth it in the end. I probably paid more than some others that were out there, but as I said, this one had the right color and options I was looking for.

Keep looking and you'll find one that "fits" - both your budget and your tastes.
