What is behind this panel/compartment? (4th Gen)

Will eventually install a CB and wondering what is behind this compartment/panel pictured below. This would make an ideal spot, but I haven't been able to find out if this spot is even an option...

If it is an option, are there aftermarket mounting kits?

if i remember correctly, behind that is the tube for the ac that goes behind your center console. i could be wrong though. but if i'm right, there is no space there to stick anything..

Hey man, Just put in an aftermarket deck in and I can tell you there is NO room behind that for a CB. Have you thought of a single DIN stereo with the CB under it?

Don't want to take out the factory deck right now (Its the JBL one and sounds good). Just ordered a BajaRack setup so I spent my fun money.

I had my dash apart a couple of months ago, it would be a great place for a CB but there is no room behind that thing.

You are right, except you don't have to pinch the sides, just pull upwards and then out. That won't help though because there is a back plate back there that hides what else is back there.

To the OP: There is no room back there for a CB unfortunately The only thing that compartment is good for is iPod connections or two rounds of 00 Buck

I use it to keep my vehicle log book. I keep records of all fuel stops, all maintenance performed, and all tire rotations.

That's not a bad idea. I just would prefer a little larger book :/

This might help. It shows how to take apart the console and part of the dash. I had to do this to put in my ipod adapter and it was really easy. But it does show you what is behind the dash. Hope this helps a little....

I keep my garage door opener in there since I don't have the HomeLink system.

Depending on the size of the CB there are some areas with space, just not there. In-between the shifter & cup-holders and behind the shifter between the shifter and the center storage has "some" space. I put my extra radio modules in this area.

Overall though, in the dash there is minimal space to be had for anything at all.

I keep my garmin GPS in there when not in use, and a gate key.

I use the Cobra 75 CB from under the center console.
