Guys, I have had a howling from the rear for about 9 months now only on accel between 55-70km's.
Today I had it at the garage on the ramp with the stethoscope listening to the axles at the ends and the diff. There was no bearing noise from the third member/ pinion bearing area, so that was ruled out.
The noise is coming from the rear passenger side, a wheel bearing possibly ! however, the bearing is not loose, there is zero play nor is it generating any heat, it will make a grumble sound if you physically spin the wheel with force, but the noise stops when you let it freewheel !
Could it be anything to do with the ABS sensor wheel in that location ? The ABS has never worked from when I bought the truck 3 years ago. The ABS dash light has been on ever since,
I have 387,000kms right now. 1997 V6 Ltd model.
If anyone can shed some light on this I'd be most grateful. Thanks.
