It is the almighty trash bag holder!

(there is a great thread on 'secret things about your 4Runner' on the 4th Gen forum section....and if you have some extra benjamins floating around you can even order a Hilux Surf garbage bag thingy to sit in your almighty trash bag holder).

What we really need, of course, is an 'other uses for the trash bag holder' page. But I'll let someone with more mod skillz think of those.

Yeah, a trash bag holder (per the Owners Manual) if you can believe that. I had to look it up when I first bought my '08. In all my years of owning Toyotas I've never seen anything from them so inept and useless.

It doesn't work well at holding bags and gets in the way of back seat passengers. The salesman at the dealer had no idea what it was when I asked. I figured it out reading the owners manual.

Yeah, I to had searched for the Hilux surf garbage bag and came up nil. it would be nice to have seeming that only my 8yo daughter rides back there sometimes. :fishing: for a link to buy more :toilet:

when i was looking at the 4runner at the dealership before i bought it i also asked the salesperson what it was. he had no idea.
i thought it was there to hold a gallon of milk from the grocery store :lmao:

fyi, Walmart sells a cylindrical automotive trash can (made out of a nylon-like material with some rigid wires for support) that was originally supposed to be used right behind a vehicles console with the use of an elastic strap to be wrapped around the console lid's hinges.

For my T4R, I just put this "trash can" in the plastic loop... it fits perfectly and works well, and IIRC, it was less than $10 (maybe even less than $5). The trash can is the perfect width for the plastic loop on the back of the console and I don't even have to use the elastic strap that comes attached to the trash can.

It comes from Japan, and is sold in Japan at Toyota. Not sure why they never made it for the US models, but I do import them.
