what is the shifter thread

I'm thinking about making a shifter knob and want to tap the thread into it. Does anyone know the thread pattern for the shifter? I've seen a few people do it so I know it's out there I just can't find info.

Go to Lowes or such store, unscrew shifter and take it in with you, find one that matches. Of course, I'm sure someone around here knows and will chime in, as you are very well aware of.
