What Is The Smaller Antenna Connector?

On the back of my 6-disc JBL head unit there are 2 antenna connections--the usual one and a smaller one adjacent to the first. What is this one for? Do I need it or will just the regular antenna connector suffice reception-wise?

It's been covered, a search would help. But some have found that reception is fine without it connected, but most have found that it should be connected. There's more detail in other threads..

4Runner has a two antenna system called a Diversity Antenna. It switches between the two depending on reception.

Ever hear of anybody finding a Y-adapter that would utilize both antennas for aftermarket systems?
