Looks like a mount and bushing that should be connected to something, asked my buddy to look under his girlfriends 3rd gen and he said he has the same thing...

Still have this rattle/metal slapping noise that I posted about in another thread and I'm just trying to check things off a list of possibilities...don't think this is correlated to the noise but if it is I will updated the other thread. I just happened to be under the truck and notice it and thought I'd ask all you knowledgeable folks.

Your OK. Dynamic vibration damper for the transfer case. Just hangs out like that.
