What is this and how can I fix it?

Wife stated to hear an exhast leak sort of sound comming from the motor. Just wondering what the best way to fix this is? It looks like a sparkplug wire. Just not like the kind I'm used to. It did not seem to want to just push in, so before I break anything I just thought Id ask first. Appreciate any help on this.

OK under that cap is the coil for that plug. It looks like the plug may be loose in the cylinder head. Did you have the plugs replaced recently?

Nope, It's been over a year.

Not famillar with this kind of plug. Does in just scew in on threds?

Each plug has it's own coil so the wires you see just trigger the spark at the proper time. If you notice there is no distributor sending spark through high voltage wires as in more conventional ignition systems. Everything is electronic in this system. The coil should just pull up from the spark plug. The spark plugs screw into the head in the normal way but they are way down under the ignition coils.

Now She Runs like a dream, purrs like a kitten and the 4 runner is working good too. Now that I'v built up some confidents, I'm going to hit the quarter car wash to clean off the motor and charge all the spark plugs. What kind of plugs do you like?

Denso or NGK, about a $1.80ea at the dealer. Use a torque wrench on those aluminum heads. 15 ft lbs. Glad everything is runnin' smoooooth.:cheers:
