What is this piece?

Hey guys,

My rig seems to be struggling lately.

I got it back from the shop (tranny leak repaired from rebuild).

Now the truck vibrates like crazy at stop lights. I have also noticed a sweet smell when I get home at night. No fluid leaks under the truck.

Finally tonight I opened the hood and this thing next to the master cylinder was buzzing. (not very loud)


Within the last 2k miles I have cleaned or replaced:

Plugs
MAF
Fuel Filter
Ran injector cleaner

By the way when I dropped it off, I did not notice any of these things.

Any ideas on what the piece is that was buzzing and or the source of the sweet smell? (radiator is only couple years old. Milkshake)

The only sweet thing I know if on these things is the stock toyota red coolant. It tastes like candy. Odd that you would smell it but not see a puddle. Have you noticed any coolant loss by your level dropping? It's worth checking if you are smelling sweet.

Take a picture of the thing that was buzzing. I am guessing you mean the evap canister. That's assuming you have the 3.4L. Give us the specs on your rig (or better yet, put it in your signature, so we will always have it).

its the flux capacitor, just live with it they are too $$$ to replace and hard to find a new one...

Here is a picture of an engine. The piece I am referencing is the piece that is between the Master Cylinder and a fuse box. It has 2 cylinders on it with a small green cap on the far right. Any thoughts why this would be buzzing after the car is turned off?

Yupppp, and it will buzz. Mine does too.

Id take it back to the shop if its vibrating.... Sweet smelling is usually coolant, and well, thats always a little suspect, but is normal after somethings when coolant may have got on the engine after working on it.

Also I think ATF has a sweet smell to it as well... so, that might be it. I'd really have them double check.
