What is this storage space for?

What are people using this storage space for? I tried a normal size chapstick and it doesn't fit.

Coins? That whole area is strange as far as storage goes, imho, no solid place for a phone or glasses, and why did they stop putting doors on the rear cargo area storage holders? The two above the wheels and to the right side area? My older 4Runner had covers for those areas to help keep stuff in and not bounce around.....

I keep my house keys in it. I have a detachable keyring b/c with the stupid placement of the ignition key any other keys hanging off will constantly stroke your leg.
I get enough excitement at home.
