What is this? Unidentified brake spring

I am doing a brake job and it came with new hardware including this little spring which my truck did not have when I removed my pads. Where does it go?

That looks like a different setup from mine. I have a big metal shim that goes over the entire rotor vent

That W shaped spring doesn’t hold the pins in place. It rides on one pin and pushes out against the pads to keep them from squeaking. It’s just an anti-rattle clip.

You'll want to put it in. Without it the pads could potentially create more noise.

The picture above is of Tundra brakes. An easy upgrade you have the option to do on our 3rd gens, which is why it may look different than what you have.

When I took off my OEM calipers and pads for the upgrade, none of them had those clips installed. I didnt have any extra noise, but I would just install them if it came in your new replacements.

thanks for the ID. I ended up leaving them off because mine pads have a piece that goes in between both pads that seems to do the same function and I didn't think it would be necessary to use both.
