While looking under my dash to figure out my vip info I found this spliced in

Anyone know what it could be?

Where do the other wires run to. The red is clearly power since it has an inline fuse but what are the other wires spliced into
 
its a goverment tracking device, they are watching you lol Im kidding, I also have no clue.
Take out the fuse and see what happens ??
 
I have seen odd ball stuff like that installed by dealerships to to give a bit more protection to there on lot stock. Tracing the wires down is probably the easiest day to get a clue of what it does. Either that or a good close pic of the circuit board might help.

I'll get better pics of it in the morning.
 
My bet is that it's probably the glass breakage sensor. That is, of course, if your VIP indicator also has the microphone. Try breaking some glass with the alarm set? :biggrin2:

The glass breaking is zip tied behind my fuse box.. This is just hanging out behind the panel.
 
Some type of gps possibly. If it has a sim card it most likely has something to do with a cellular network. Maybe you have a aftermarket stereo and it has a phone on it or something? Just throwing some guesses.

That's a good guess too.

Can you put the Sim into a computer/tablet? Perhaps it can be "read". I can't imagine it'd hurt anything. Fingers crossed...FWIW.

edit: SIM...DOH... try putting it in your phone? But for that I'm really unsure. Good luck.

Remote start controlled by phone?

Deck's have that capability with a remote start. I imagine there needs to be something the disables the factory alarm.

With you finding all this cool stuff it makes me want to search under my seats and dash. I have a VIP alarm, no idea what it does. haha.

I am finding a plethora of crap in this beast. Also found two never used keystone lift tickets that had fallen into the dash.

I went to take better pictures of the circut board abd my cell phone just isn't going to cut it. Going to borrow an actual camera this afternoon.

Yeah, I gave mine a pretty good detailing when I first got it home. But the only thing I found was the hamburglars secret lair. He wasn't there but the evidence was, mostly french frys and M&M's. Certainly nothing cool. I do think I'll take a look under the dash though.

ColYotaGurl...Please keep us posted when you get it figured out.

I betcha it's a gps kill switch for the dealer to disable the vehicle via cellular network if the previous owner didn't make their payments. this makes the repo easier.
