What kind of Optima battery should i get

lets just say im not very smart on electronic stuff and could use some helpful advice. in my last car I killed the stock battery after about a year and a half. I got a yellow top optima and it lasted about 6 years. well I got rid of car. I bought the optima because I frequently rallycross and have tons of offroad lights and a big stereo. kinda the same setup is what im looking for in my 4runner, but now off roading instead of rallycross. anyway I saw a build thread where some guy had a blue top one. marine stuff, lots of river crossings maybe? also I know a lot of people don't like optima.

you can go order the x2 power from batteriesplus, order online and do store pick up, that way youll save couple of bucks. also the x2 is a rebadge of northstar battery.

group 27f will fit without any modification, the 31m will be bigger and needs a slight modification, atleast for me on the 4th gen, 5th gen i think itll drop right in.

Optima is a bit like Craftsman tools… not quite what it used to be.

That said:
Red = Starter
Blue = Marine
Yellow = Deep Cycle

These days, if I was shopping for a deep cycle I would look at Odyssey battery, but if I don't have any special application requirements and just need a starter battery, I would just get a regular one.

Pretty hard to go wrong with the everstart maxx from Walmart or the Interstate from Costco. Changed / maintained regularly (about every 5 years) you wouldn't notice the difference anyway for starter duty.

I run a pair of blue tops. but mine are the starting/deep cycle version. that, or another yellow top would be what you want.

its apparently a crap shoot whether you get a good one or not. at least according to people on here. ive been happy with mine, no complaints other than the price. lol.
