What load rating you all running?

The dealership found me a new red Trail, so my wait is over!

Now buying tires... settled on BFG TA KOs, 285/70x17s with a Toyotech ultimate lift...

Now the dealership wants to know... D or E load ratings?

Compare, contrast, discuss...

E. I'm happy with the ride (stiffer sidewall), but they are definitely heavy!

I usually run them at 44psi, aired down to 32 and you couldn't even see a difference.
 
Depends how much much you plan on offroading and abusing(having fun)them really. I got E-rated only because they don't sell F rated.When airing down offroad the tires take abuse and I wanted as many plies/insurance as I could get. Sucks getting a flat in the middle of nowhere. E are overkill unless you offroad.

Definitley gives up 1-2 mpg in gas mileage being heavy but I don't notice any difference in ride quality.It's those dang mesquite trees and briars around here in Texas that are tire killers.

I forgot to congratulate you on your new TE. Congrats on a rare red one at that!:cheers: I saw the first one in red a couple of weeks ago at the mall ,it was a SR5, but was amazed at that color and really stood out from the crowd.

Seems the Steeler nation is everywhere. I was born and raised in the "Burgh". That sure chapped these Cowboys fans down here that the hated Steelers are coming into their brand new house, that Jerry built for his kids, to play in their Superbowl. Steelers are staying here in Ft. Worth too while the Packers are staying over in Dallas . woohoo!

I am running 265/70/17 (stock size) Goodyear Duratracs in load range C. I thought seriously about going with E tires, but figured that I'd rather have a lighter, more forgiving tire for the 90% of on-road driving I do. I took the truck off-road last weekend for some mild wheeling and have ZERO complaints about the tire's durability or performance.
 
I'm running 285/70R17 BFG All Terraina Load D.

I run them at around 38-40 on the street and take them down to 23-25psi offroad. They are way less stiff than my last Load E Firestone Destination M/T's. Load E's are heavy, I was running the stock size tire and was getting roughly the same mileage I'm getting now with these larger tires. In fact it might have been a little less than what I'm getting now.

I'm perfectly happy with these D rated tires so far. Great on road and off road. Load E's will give you more piece of mind though as Harper suggested since they have more sidewalls.

Thanks all, tires figured out... but my dealer really screwed up...

Got a call yesterday... they made a deal on my TE, it was coming in from another state... be ready to pickup this weekend...

Got a call today... oops we screwed up, its a 2010 TE, and the dealership won't let it go for anything less than the 2011 price... so they are back searching for my red TE.

It will happen... just have to be more patient!
