What oil do you use on your Runner??

I use Pennzoil too. I use it cause the previous owner did and the oil always stays a golden amber color, so why change now?

im using mobil 1 high milage, works great about 8k and the oil still looks brand new...

I say this in every oil thread, and people usually ignore me...but:
It makes NO SENSE to talk about what oil you use if you do not specify your oil change interval. Any crap dino is fine with a 3k OCI, and probably up to 5k. More, and you need to go full syn.
I use Castrol Full Syn 5w-30 at 6500-7k OCI, and Blackstone Labs UOA says I should try longer (which I won't do).
I'm glad to see most on here are specifying.

M1 Syn High Mileage 5w30 and K&N Gold Filter. Just did my first change with this oil.

I used Valvoline High Mileage 10w 30 for forever. It's a synthetic blend. Great oil and kept the engine running strong. Just a suggestion if you are thinking Valvoline.

I use Castrol Syntec 5W-30. I change mine twice a year since I don't drive it much.
Edit: I use a GM PF53 filter, since I have a few laying around since my old POS Saturn took the same filter. I'll use Toyota filters after I run out.

I use Amsoil 5W30 signature series with the Amsoil filter.
Do both my 4 Runner and wifes Lexus ES300 with the same oil and filter.
I do the oil change every spring at this time, so once a year.
I've got less than 4000 miles on my 4Runner in that year and I don't think she even has 3000 max on her Lexus.
I would let my 4Runner go 7000 miles though especially if a lot of it was highway miles.
Wont let her Lexus go much over 5000 tops though.
So it cost us $120 per year for oil/filter changes plus an extra Qt for top offs for both cars combined, not horrible considering the extra protection the engine receives and no sludge buildup. In fact my engine is cleaner now than when I bought it 2 years ago.
And there is a big difference between petroleum oil vs full synthetic when using it in certain engines, our 4Runners are one of those engines.
The Lexus is definitely one of those engines, in fact it should be required from the manufacturer to use 100% synthetic in that engine.
In the 99' Lexus I don't care if you change the oil every 1500 miles you are going to get sludge in that engine unless you use synthetic.
Especially if you do a lot of short trips in that 1500 miles.
The top end of the engine gets so hot that when you shut it off, the oil flows down and a thin film stays, that film literally cooks just like pouring it into a frying pan and turn up the heat.
Petroleum oil has a much lower flash point than good synthetic does, they usually range between 350 up to 400 or so.
Good synthetics range between 475 to 500 flash point.
Also in the oil that this engine calls for (5W30) is a very bad range for petroleum oil, it is a thin base stock that has to add a lot of polymers to reach that wide range, this WILL cause that petroleum oil to break down faster, that wide range causes thermal breakdown in petroleum oils.
You would be better off using a 10W30 unless you are in a really cold climate for extended periods. Anyone that insist on using petroleum oil in these engines should use 10W30.
Petroleum oil starts to break down on MILE ONE after a change.

The original owner switched to M1 @10,000 miles and changed it every 6-7k miles and when I aquired it in '04 with almost 100k I continued with the same. Now I'm at 177k but I only drive it about 5000 miles a year so about every 10-11 months I do an oil change. I also stick with Puralator PureOne filters.
