What Oil Do You Use?

Bottom line is many choose to use the Toyota filter and 4-5k intervals. Many use 5w-20 and many use 5w-30. Several use synthetic, many don't bother.
Bottom line is change it regularly with 5w-20 or 5w-30, use a decent filter and you'll be fine. If you tow in a hot climate or live in a very cold climate consider synthetic. If you don't live in an extreme climate, tow all the time or use extended change intervals then many would say synthetic is a waste of money. That's my 2cents.
Toyota suggests every 5000 miles. If you use the suggested interval (religously) or a little less it's hard to go wrong...

My Tacoma had the factory fish oil drained out @ 1 K miles, and seen nothing but Amsoil 5W-30 for the next 8 years until she met the crusher @ 51K miles (frame rust buyback)
My 4 Runner will get Amsoil this weekend, weather permitting, and will never see anything else as long as I own it.

Been using synthetic for YEARS... never an oil related problem whether off-roading (and I mean REAL off-roading), towing, intense summer heat or downright super cold temps.
Usually Mobil One but have transitioned the last couple of years to Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic.
Don't hear the lifters any longer in the pickup truck and in the 4Runner V8, the 5W-30 weight is a good balance between the hot and cold temps.
Change the oil usually twice a year and never think about the 'old' oil limits of 3K miles or even 5K miles.
Synthetics can easily go 7500 miles!

My '90 SR5 V6 used Mobil1 and Fram filter (shhhhh! I know, garbage, but read on...) with oil/filter changes at 8k-10k miles and I sold it with 205,000 miles on it. My friend has 350,000 on it and he says she's still NOT burning or using oil.
I use Mobil1 in my '00 SR5 and Fram filters (Mobil1 filters lately) with oil/filter changes at 8k-10k miles , has 152,000 miles and burns or uses no oil.
My new '08 Sport will get Mobil1 oil and filters with oil/filter changes at 8k-10k miles.
Notice a trend here?
