What on earth is this sound?

It's coming from the rear wheel/tire area. Sound speeds up when accelerating and slows down when decelerating.

Sounds like a sticky brake caliper, rubbing the rotor. Drive the truck a bit and then see if you can tell a difference in the temp of the rotors R vs L, then see if you can tell a temp difference in the bearings.

What have you checked so far? Brake squealer maybe or rock stuck between disc and shield?.

Brakes / frozen caliper or perhaps wheel bearings?

Squealer is a good guess. I would also check calipers with an IR thermometer. If you see a temp difference between L & R after some driving that is how I checked.

Wheel bearings I don't have experience with. Just a guess.

Did you replace the rear rotors recently? If you didn't back off the parking brake you can damage the hardware and cause one of the holding pin to stretch and hit the hub.

You found the issue!!!

I had been meaning to bump this post with what I found out was the cause.

I had hit a newly constructed stuffed curb last winter with the rear wheel and that apparently damaged the parking break hardware and that caused the squeaking as well as VSC and parking lights coming on at certain speeds while headlights were on.

Toyota replaced the rotors and parking brake hardware and that solved the issue! Not cheap unfortunately.
