What really Irks me.........

The Good:

I live in the Chicago region. We have the best TFS lease rates on 4 Runners in the country. Money Factor is .00001 which equates .3% financing. It is like free money on the lease. Chicago dealers are also very aggressive and will sell below invoice.

The Bad:

I want an V6 or V8 SR5 with the 3rd row and sunroof........guess what. NOT available in our region. Sure I can get one in another region, but only 2 other regions offer that option package and BOTH of those regions have higher Money Factors. Between the higer money factors and paying more for the sunroof it will cost me almost $2000 more over 3 years. Not really worth it.

No dealers I have spoken with are interested in doing an out of region locate.

If I buy it out right it is a mute point, but given the lease rates even if I get 0% financing for 60 months my payment will still be over $200 more per month.

Looks like I am getting the third row with no sunroof.

The 3rd row seat is kind of a joke in the 4Runner, isn't it? Unless you have little kiddies to put back there. I don't have them in my truck (the seats, not the kids... well, not those, either...) but from what I've seen on 4R's that do have them, there isn't a heck of a lot of space there. Kind of like the Pilot. Before I bought my 4R, I looked at the Pilot and MDX, and the 3rd row seats were about useless for anyone over 4 years old. I figure that if you really want/need to cart around a bunch of little people, a minivan is a better idea than a 4R.

My lease factor was .00005, helps that my old roommate was the finanace manager for all other things.....:D

The TFS money factor for 4runner leases is .00005 for OH, KY, MI and TN region for this month. This is an awesome money factor which lowers your lease rent factor to about $3 a month where on normal leases it would be as high as $70-$100 depending on your credit and the bank's rate.

I think it is a great deal because even with the high residual on toyota leases if you decided to purchase the car (depending on interest rates) you can lease-purchase for as little or even less than an outright buy.

.00001 won't make a large difference in the payment. Look in another region for your truck. Luckily they found mine in region and only 137 miles away.

Good luck!

call toyota

Hey, I wanted a 4X2 and in MA they do not carry them. I had the dealer call the toyota 1-800-go-toyota and they have one coming from somewhere just for me. I think they got it right from toyota cuz i guess no dealership wants to lose it out of their stock. If I were you, i would call toyota and see what they can do. It worked for me and I pick up my new 4 runner next week!! Hope that helps.

I had the option to lease or buy too. I decided to buy even though leasing would have saved me some cash.

The 2.9% for 60 months is a great deal too. There are many personal factors that go into the decision. How many miles you drive, what kinds of mods you plan and if you plan to keep the car after the lease. Definitely don't base your decision solely on an incredibly low money factor.

For me, the 4runner is a 2nd car (2nd 4runner actually) and probably will not see over 10K miles per year. Plus, with the current money factor I drove off the lot for less than $500 total out of pocket. I have other plans for the $8-10K that I would have used for my down payment.

And I did a complete spreadsheet looking at leasing at the current rate then buying the residual or purchasing with the 2.9% rate. There was no difference in the total overall outpay for either option. Usually leasing and then buying would cost alot more than just buying. But with the money factor it was just a wash and depending on how rates are 3 years from now the lease-buy option could even save me money as compared to 2.9% financing. I had to look at the spreadsheet for about 5 times until I beleived the numbers.

Yeah, i usually lease my cars since i only put about 9-10,000 miles on per year but i wanted to buy this time so i could make the car my own! Plus I did sit down and figure all the money part out and if I dont keep the car for atleast 6 years, I should have just leased to begin with! I hope you get the car you want, good luck!!
