What should i do with the calipers i removed?

Hi guys

My '03 SE V8 was pulling to the right when i'd brake, and i knew that's a sign of a frozen piston on the caliper, so i nipped it in the bud and had them replaced with OEM NEW, not reman's.

I know many DIY-fans and others that believe in aftermarket stuff will have their opinions on why i didnt go another route, but believe me when i tell you that i got a HUGE break on the service from my local Toyota shop. This is the 3rd set on the rig, and I had aftermarkets on there the last 18 months and they failed. I priced new OEM calipers on partznet, and i pretty much paid the same + $78 for install. Bottom line is that my family rides/drives this Runner and their safety is something i wont gamble with.

I asked for the old calipers back, as there was no core charge and they gave them back to me. Initially when the tech inspectedthe calipers and rotors for signs of a frozen piston, he said he saw no signs of such being the case. There was no sign of excessive-heating of the rotor from the pad being stuck there, but when i drove the ride out of the shop, TAH DAH!! NO MORE PULL TO THE RIGHT!

So i have the aftermarkets in the new caliper boxes in my basement. What should i do with them? Clean and rebuild? Scrap metal?

I only ask in case people out here might have ever bought a rebuild kit to bring them back up to reman. spec.

Anyone ever do such a thing?

I used to do that years ago before rebuilt calipers became so inexpensive.
You can get new pistons and seals from the dealer. Then clean the cylinders up with fine sand paper.

They might be handy just to have for cores.

Or paper weights.
