What should I hunt four??

First off kewl forum!!

I'm starting to hunt for a 4runner, Ive owned an 82 Hi-Lux 83 Hi-Lux and a 96 T-100 I know nothing about the 4runners... I plan on spending 10 plus or so for the 4Runner... What Motor, what years ??? What should I also be forewarned about? I plan on using it as a DD with the typical weekend off roading.. No rock crawling and no mud bogs.. Just a pleasureful mountain rig!! Would love to find one with an E-locker but what years have E-lockers? What are the typical MPG for the V-8 and V-6?

I would look for a 3rd gen with the 3.4 V6 and an e-locker look for a 99 to 00 they dropped the e-locker in 01 I think I also believe they had it in the highlander or Limited package you probably won't find a 4th gen for that price I just traded my 04 in w/90k and got 15k on a trade. As far a v6 or v8 you can only get a v8 in the 4th gen.

FYI 3rd gens ran from 96 to 02
