hey, whats the factory size exhaust that is supost to be on a 1992 toyota 4runner with 22re. I just put a 1 3/4 pipe from mufler almost to the manifoil.
What size exhaust on 22r

Not stock but I used 2 1/4 based on recommendations from a few performance 22RE engine builders. I remember stock being a bit smaller but I can't remember the exact size - sorry.
To be more specific, I went with LC Engineering's exhaust system and header (which is 2 1/4).

shitt that means i went smaller, but i did remove my cat though, i didn't feel any difference in power though, it should screw up anything aye?

No not really. I noticed abit of change on all my runners, but that might as well just have been because the old exhaust system was pretty bad worn...
On the diesel truck I have, the only thing I was thinking about with the larger exhaust was to try to lower the heat of the exhaust.
Maybe that's why my ol' V6 never had any head gasket problem, but I don't know...
I think any size is okay, as long as it's larger than 1" 1/2"

FWIW, here's a snippet on exhausts from Ted at engnbldr.
He is an acknowledged 22R/RE guru.

But the factory needed a quiet, smooth, and responsive engine because the driver might be a little old lady going to the store in Hawaii, or a young fellow driving around at 5000 ft altitude in Colorado. So they compensated for this, and for ground clearence on some vehicles.
The best setup cost wise we have found is to use the excellent factory exhaust manifold, then increase the pipe size to 2" all the way to the muffler, yep, the cat, too. Then we increase again to 2 1/4" on exit all the way back. "
