What size for my new REVOS?

After much debate and research and thanks to many of the members here who were so helpful, I decided on replacing my Dueler H/T 840 with the REVOS. I will most likely get them this weekend. The size of the tires in my 4Runner now are 265/65/17, would there be any advantages or disadvantages in going to a size 265/70/17 or should I leave it the same? Thanks again for your input and patience. By the way, those Bridgestone Dueler H/T 840 tires have 60,500 and I can probably put a few k's on it but I am not quite sure how to test them to see if they need replacement or not. I used the penny technique, put the penny upside down in a few grooves but didn't see Lincoln's head, which means I can still ride them...:bash:

Benefit - More ground clearance, bigger tire looks more agressive.

Negative - Will affect speedo (3%), your spare won't match (unless you buy 5)



The Revo is probably heavier than the 840.

The 265/65/17 Revo is 41 lbs. The 265/70 is 43 lbs. I doubt the will be much difference in MPG between the 65 and 70.




Hold out till August. There might be a rebate. There was a rebate in April. I think they run rebates every 4 months.

I called and confirmed they would included the Revo. Drove over to order. They gave me 35% off five LT 265/70/17 E 121R.


Five LT Revos for $880 (installed, parts, tax, etc). Includes Repair/Replacement protection.


No word on availbility. They'll check the warehouses and give me a call. It is a F250 tire size, so there should be plenty around.

Tirerack would have been $954 shipped, no install.

I already have a lifetime alignment with Firestone. I'll get it checked at install.

Thanks a million, just printed the coupon, I am heading today to the store, they asked me for an alignment, don't know if I have to have it, my 4runner feels fine!

I called up a local shop about the deal and the 1st shop said that the Revos aren't part of the special. So I called up 2 other places and both said that the Revos are part of the special. Anyways, it's gonna cost me ~$700 OTD for the 265/65/17 & ~$675 OTD for the 70s. The didn't have the 65s in stock but can get them within a few hours. They did have the 70s in stock...so guess which ones I'm gonna go with? I'm pretty stoked about getting these on my baby after work today. BTW, the prices above include lifetime rotation, flat repair and damaged tire replacement. Best deal so far on the Revos! Thanx to members like you guys/gals for alerting all of us.

I just left the truck for my new tires, all together 4 REVOS with the warranty $688!! Yeah Baby!!! I can't wait to pick up the truck to see how they look!! I'll post pics tomorrow when I detail it!

Another happy ending... I bought a set of 5 Revos before the coupon came out. Today I went back in and asked them (expert Tire) to price-match their coupon. No problem. They were very nice and promptly gave me $165 back.

RUBBING.....

Rubbing......is what happened when I got my new tires.....
My 03 Sport had the same stock size you have but when I went to get replacements, the tire dealer accidently put on 265/70 /17's.....the result is some rubbing when steering wheel is at maxed turn. It rubs on the flimsy plastic shroud-thingy inside the wheel well.

It looks a little beefier, however, as it sits slightly higher so more ground clearance as previsouly mentioned, but yes, my Spare is still the same size so you'll have to think about resizing possibly for alignments sake.

but, My SPORT is Speedo Calibrated and the operator noted no change on his equipment for my speedo up to 80mph.

gonna be changing to 265/60/18's when my TRD's come in....

Before my lift, when I had 265/70-17 Revos installed, I had some minor rubbing from the driver's side front tire. It rubbed very little, but enough to leave marks on the fenderwell liner. I think it rubbed on the back side of the liner when turning left with some speed. Not sure about the front side - it may have just been contact from the little rubber n1pples before they wore off. No rubbing on the passenger side.

Koz, I got Wrangler RT/S 265/70R17's on my ride,......sits slightly higher and tires look beefier but they do rub slightly....not bad tires but I am waiting for my Kumho's
