What speakers did you put in your 4Runner?

Anyone that has upgraded speakers in their 4Runner what did you put in? I just bought a new head unit, and now I might as well get all new speakers before i install everything. Just seeing what everyone went with, and everyone's set up.

I went with Kenwood's Excelon line, A buddy got me a huge discount on them so no brainer really.

I like it, nice and clean.

I put Infinity Reference 9602ix in the front and have none in the rear doors. Pioneer GMT-5400 amp running them. Clean and as loud as you can stand!

I got Hertz Energy series 6.5" components on sale for $100 per set. Bought two sets and installed both in doors in factory locations (with some modifications).

if not using an amp, alpine type s is a good replacement, other wise, if you are serious in audio like some of us, with amps and doors sound deadened, you can put what you like to your taste. i personally use focal, older k2p line and older polyglass line. i have them for 10 years now, and it still sound great. but i do feed a lot of power to it.

I have the JBL audio setup and I think I read somewhere that the system runs 2 ohms, can somebody please confirm that for me? That seems low...

I have a Kenwood BT365U head unit (thinking of replacing) driving:
JBL GTO609C up front
Polk DXi651 in the rear
Kenwood KSC-SW11 under seat sub

I just purchased Infinity Reference 6500cx's components for the front doors and
Infinity Reference 6502ix 2-Ways coax's for the back.
Should be coming in tomorrow.

I haven't decided which amp yet.

I put in Kicker 3-way speakers in the front. http://caraudiohq.com/the-best-6x9-speakers. Though to be honest, the sound wasn't as good as I expected.

Focal IS 690toy. Big improvement in sound with just the fronts alone.

I did CDT audio speakers. but I can say that the MB quart I had in my third gen sounded even better.

I have the stock JBL HU with the JBL speakers. Today the speaker in my driver's side door blew out. Without looking I am pretty sure the cone has separated from the foam. I don't mind replacing it with some nicer speakers but would only do so if it would work with the stock system. Should I just go with another JBL stock speaker or will something else work better, only with the stock system.

Pretty sure you could just replace it with the same size speaker and use your factory head unit.. is call a car audio shop and ask them

subwoofers: two sundown audio 8" sa8v2 in a ported enclosure tuned to 34hz
sub amp :sundown sax1200d sa8d4v1.5

I'm very partial to Diamond Audio speakers, some of the best sound quality and clarity you can get. :naughty:

Just recently replaced my old Phoenix Gold Octane R coaxials in my front doors w/ a pair of 6.5" NVX VSP65 kit component speakers w/ silk tweeters. Still running the old Octane R 4" coaxials in the rear doors.

I've run Infinity KAPPA series speakers in my last 4 vehicles. The the mids and highs are crisp clear and loud, and the KAPPA 12"subwoofer is accurate and clean. I love my setup. I don't think you can do much better for the price IMO
