what suspension should I buy?

just finished a sonoran steel 1.2 on my 97. having problems getting someone to align it but seems like quality gear and good customer service! honestly don't know how it rides yet but its up there!

Buy the lift that best fits you. Spend the time to research\study and you will figure out what best matches your needs. No one will give you the right answer just out opinions on what we think is best.

Lots of good info on here. I'll just say this...get what you want and do it right the first time. I tried to go cheapo on shocks/struts...struts already blown, so now I'm spending more money and time to fix it. Sigh...

OME if you only want to go 2 inches. I wanted a small lift at first like 1-2 inches but ended up going with OME 881 890 spring which is a bout 2.5 front and 3 inches rear and I am very happy with it. SS is great but I feel it comes with more than you need for a basic lift. I just did the OME springs and shocks and front diff drop with front alignment after and it rides great and wheels great no issues or complaints. I dd my 4runner. If you have the money and you plan to acually wheel your rig egt the Toytec Ultimate or Boss kit., I would have gotten the Ultimate kit if I had an extra $300 to spend.

For that height i'd recommend toytecs boss or ultimate coilovers with the 550# or 600# eibachs up front (this will allow you to adjust from stock height upto ~3-3.5in of lift) and ome 906 coils with bilstein 5100 or boss shocks in the rear. Would work well if you plan on 265/75/16 tires.

If you plan on 285/75/16+ tires, the same toytec coilover set up up front with ome 890s would be a good option as well as SS's 1.2 or 7.2 depending. Can't go wrong with either.

Both options listed above will give a nice lift with a close to stock ride & will work well for daily driving and off road. Those are just a few of several good/common lift options and can branch out from there depending on your budget.
