What the biggest size tire that fit under 4Runner?

I am currently running 255/75 17 and am struggling to justify $2500 for a rear bumper. Does my one know if this will fit before I buy a 5th tire and have it mounted to the spare rim.

I mean... in what context? Do you mean in the spare tire area? Is this a modified 4Runner or are you just slapping a rear bumper on stock suspension?
 
In the spare tire area, slightly modified have 2 inch old man emu suspension with upgraded control arms and Detroit trutrac. I live in an area where our off-roading is limits to sand trails and logging road and lots of highway driving to distant ski locations.

265/70R17 General Grabber AT2 did not fit, stock 17" Limited wheels

285/60R18 BFG AT KO2 does fit, on 18x9.5 -12 wheels.

It may be hard to spit-ball whether any particular tire will fit without just trying it.
 
You could jack up one side, remove a tire , drop the spare and swap in yours and see if it fits to be absolutely sure.
 
I've got a 255/80/17 KM2 (true 33) stuffed under the 4runner. I did have to air it completely down to 0 though.
 
So will a 255/80/17 Discover ST Max fit on my setup without the need of kicking in the wheel wells? I have an ICON 2.5" lift and wheel spacers for reference....

You'll likely have to air it down. I could fit a 255/75/17 Duratrac at full pressure, but it was tight. The KM2 just wasn't happening with air in it.

Hmm...I have a 265/70R17 Grabber AT2 under mine at the moment and it fits fine...It was a takeoff from my old set (I told the tire shop to just mount the tire with the most tread on the spare) so maybe the tread depth made a difference? Probably < 3/4" difference though. And it doesn't seem that tight

The 255/80r17 Cooper ST Maxx will fit the wheel wells AND the spare location just fine, without having to air them down. They are 32.8" in diameter, so are some of the smaller 255s out there.

I'm running 5 ST Maxx's on my 4Runner and have 0 rubbing, even at full stuff. This is with the stock wheels, aftermarket wheels or spacers may cause rubbing on the fenders...

I've got the Toyo Open Country AT2 in the same 265/70R17 and the spare fits just fine under mine.

That is what I have, fit fine in the wheel wells but not underneath in the spare location. I even removed all the air and used a floor jack to try and smush it in there, no go. I have the V8 hitch that takes up a bit more room though. I had to roof mount it for now on my Yakima rack. I will be getting a Wilco Hitchgate Solo in the future.

The shop was trying a brand spanking new tire... maybe it made a difference?

I was surprised it didn't fit... but I did not go and personally investigate where the interference was; just took the guys at their word for it.
