What the deuce are these things?

We took off my LCA's last night to weld on the Toytec skid and found this welded to the top of the frame end of the arm.

None of the 3 other 3rd gens that we had there had anything like them.

Thoughts?

My stock LCAs had those and J-money's did too. The only thing I can figure out is they are there to limit the travel.

You might as well. I'm pretty sure you'll get some more upward travel out of it. You might have to clearance your driveshaft/gas tank a little more though. I had to trim my Lil skip's tank skid because my home made links don't have those stoppers.

The factory removed them by 2000. Mine did not have those.

Yep Brian and I had them. they would technically stop the droop at a certain point, but you couldn't reach it with OME shocks. Maybe the the LC trekmasters. Possibly its just a 97 thing. We all have 97's

Your right it sure has helpful members. and that "harmonic balancer" on the tcase is another useless add on. Mine caught a rock and i took it off when I put the belly pan on. Makes no difference without it.

And the shocks on these truck stop the droop in the back, unless you still have a sway bar. so those metal chunks are really a waste. And i think all the leverage and weight of the axle would just cause carnage on it if you actually used it. The LCA mounts are weak as is

Could just be a changed source or a update that was thought to fix an issue but only added unneeded cost.

I was wondering that. I'm thinking about making my own belly pan and wanted to remove that so I wouldn't have to cut a hole.
