What tire comes on the limited?

After several weeks, hell, months now, I finally have concluded what my vibration problem is. It was intermittent, really hard to figure it out.

I stumbled upon it when I went out of town for my job, leaving my 4-runner at home parked in the driveway. A few days later, I'd drive it and the vibrations ~65 or 70 were there again, like a balance weight fell off. But, the vibrations eventually went away. What I have concluded is that when these tires sit for a while they develop a slight flat spot to them and that flat spot takes some time to wear round again, and then the vibrations go away.

My one blessing is that my dealer is very, very good. My salesman told me that they've replaced tires on new vehicles before (a Tundra) when the owner wasn't satisfied with their performance. So, what I am wondering is what tire comes on the limited models? (I think they are 17", right?) I'll give my salesman a call, would love to suggest they replace them with some Revo's, but may suggest the limited's tires as they may have better access to them.

I have a Sport Edition, but got a different tire/wheel package ... so now I have the 17" Limited rims, and 265/65/17 Michelin X-Country tires ... the tires are awesome on road, and actually not too bad off road ... but Revos would probably be ideal if you're looking for a good replacement.

You can get them in 265/70/17, which will be about .5" taller than the stock tires, but they'll fit just fine without any rubbing at all.

Except for the spare, the tow hitch (I assume that he has a tow hitch) doesn't seem to leave enough room for even this slightly larger tire.

Actually, I believe Bridgestone makes them in 265/65-17s now.

Toyota is weird on tires. They use Dunlop, Bridgestone, and Michelin, does not matter if you are going to buy the SR5 or the limited you might get anyone of these. The SE comes with white letter Bridgestones. The only good tires in the bunch are the Michelin Cross Terrains. I had the dealer swap the Michelins off of an SR5 on to my SE, I kept the SE wheels . If you check the comments on all of these tires, on www.tirerack.com you will conclude that you want the Dealer to replace your defective tires with the Michelin Cross Terrains in the stock size.

Don't they use the same wheels on the 2004 SR5 and Limited? Are you talking about the Michelin Cross terrains? If so they are the best tires Toyota offers on the 4th Generation 4runner.

SR5's come with 6-spoke 16's standard with optional 5-spoke 17's. Sports come with the 6-spoke 17's and the Limiteds come with the 5-spoke 17's.

I've seen a mix of tires on both the SR5's and Limited's. Most are Dunlop or Bridgestone Dueler H/T's but there are some that have the Michelin Cross Terrains. The only tire I've seen on the Sport Edition are the Dunlops. I think it has something to do with the white lettering.

So it was Dunlops on the Sport, I remember they were white lettered and that from my research the Michelins were 2X's better than the other OEM tires. When I saw the Michelins on the SR5 I made it part of my deal to switch the tires. Funny thing the Dealer did not care one bit. They don't care what tires you get I'm sure they were just concerned about the labor cost of changing the tires. Now if they had to go out and buy some tires and they would end up with 5 extra tires that would make a difference. It's all about the $$$

I have a tow hitch and the 265/70/17 Revo spare fit just fine.

i have the 17" 5-spoke limited rims, with the Michelin x-terrains ... on my sport edition. the michelins are the best offered by the dealership, by far, and i have absolutely no complaints about them. i'd recommend them to anyone for performance the rain, on the road, and even offroad (except not in deep mud bogs or really crazy stuff).

well, we don't get much snow in texas, so i'm afraid i can't help you out with that ... but as far as an on-road, highway tire, it is one of the best.

My Dunlops are fine but I should of had them swap Michelins on, but when I got my truck they where all coming through with Dunlops, in the beginning the Limiteds had the Michelins, that was back in 2003 when the 4th Gens where brand new, now it seems the SR5 have the Michelins, the Limiteds have the Dunlops and bridgestones, the Sports have the Bridgestones or Dunlops with white letters.

Our '03 has Michelin Cross-Terrains, and their snow performance is pretty reasonable. Not as good as the Michelin Arctic Alpins on our other car, but Waaay better than the LTX M+S tires that were on my '98 LTD.

IMHO, the Cross-Terrains are excellent tires.

My Landcruiser came with LTX M/S, wore like iron and were not good in the snow. I hope the Cross Terrains are better. Glad to hear you like them.
