What to choose, SR5 or Sport ?

Hi..
I'm new here and sorry for my writing but my English is not very good. I want to buy Toyota 4runner (after owning a Jeep Grand Cherokee for 4 years .....) and I would like to get some info from You about difference between version SR5 and Sport Edition. One dealer said that sport edition is less comfortible than SR5 but the other said that You are not able to feel difference when driving on the road. I took my Jeep few time offroad but I'm planning to use my new 4runner on the road (at least for few first weeks when it's brand new....hehe) but I would like to get version that is more comfortable on road... If You could post some info and your own experience than would help me a lot. the difference in price between both of them is 1300 so its not that much and sport edition has few fun things more than SR5 . I test drive only SR5 so far that's why I need some opinions..

Well, I have a Sport and I love it. It is very comfortable on the highway but it also handles well doing quick turn city driving.

The sport also has some other things like a sun roof and the 10 speaker stereo (not to mention the suspension upgrades) so Id say, for $1300, its worth it.

My Sport doesn't have a sunroof... What's the deal with that?

Actually the sunroof and spoiler are options on the SE.
I opted "no" on the sunroof and "yes" for the spoiler.

I drove them all, and got the SE V8. You get more for the money and the REAS shock system is worth the difference all by itself. The V8 is a $10,000 plus engine, proven performer and used in the Lexus LX470 along with the same 5 speed auto. You need to read everything you can on this thread and drive all of the different models before you make your decision. This forum is a great resource, use it.

It may be because mine is a Canadian model. There was some other stuff that was standard on the Canadian Sport package like Homelink, Daytime running lights and rear stereo control.

The other thing I noticed different between the U.S. model and the Canadian model is that mine only has SR5 on the door, even though it is a 4x4, while the US models have "Four by Four" or something else.

I've got the sport and my buddy says it rides smoother than his Lexus. Get the sport and dont' look back!

Yours says SR5 on the door? I thought it was a sport? My US model says SportEdition4WD on the door. Makes sense about the sunroof, it seems that's the only option my truck didn't have... Too bad too, kinda wanted a sunroof

I have a Sport and love it. The XRAEs is worth the extra money and it rides like a champ. It has tougher brakes and mine has the sunrrof too. Well worth the extra $.

I drove both and much preferred the sport because of the bigger brakes, and xreas. I don't have a sunroof or a spoiler, but I looooovvvvve my v8 Sport Ed. Drive both, and I think you will come to prefer the Sport because it has xreas for on-road handling.

I am another one who has a Sport and loves it. The Sports suspension may give a different ride than the SR5, but the XREAS makes it handle a lot better around turns. I live in New Jersey, so I had no choice but to get it with a sunroof or spoiler. I love the look of the spoiler and I love having the sunroof (when it works). I don't have the 10 speaker though. Also, I don't know if a third row seat is important or not to you, but you can't get the third row seat on the Sport. If you don't want a third row seat, get a Sport for sure!!

I say SE. Not that much difference in price, plus you get the XREAS suspension, and larger breaks. Plus the SE sports pack makes it look more "sporty".

You get a lot of things by upgrading to the Sport model from the SR5. It's only about $1300 and this is some of the things you get:

Bigger front brakes. The Sport gets bigger front discs than the SR5 AND the Limited

17" 6 spoke wheels that only come on the Sport Models

Color matched heated side view mirrors

Silver colored Roof rack

X-REAS (Awesome suspension, well worth the 1300 right there)

Hood Scoop - Some people like it, some people don't. I love mine, its great for catching Cicadas

Leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls and cruise controls

Tilt and telescoping steering wheel (SR5 is only Tilt)

To me the best things there are the Xreas 17" Wheels and the bigger brakes. Everything else is just for looks and convenience.

Now which engine (V6/V8) has already been discussed in great detail in other threads. Do a search on it and you'll find them.

Good luck on your search and whatever direction you go you'll be happy with a T4R

SE

SE handles better. Go for the V8, if you plan to haul or drive in a hilly terrain. My V6 SE was not very responsive on the taconic parkway in upstate NY.
