on rainy days or when im off roading and i step on th brakes suddenly the brake peddle rattle with noise, kicks and shakes underneath. like its skidding or something. I just change the brake pads a month ago and got brand new tires thinking maybe my tires were going bald but still happens when i push the brake suddenly. or also when tow a heavy load and i brake. Whats this problem called and what the hell could it be.

found out it is my abs. but with these quick and rapid pulsation while panic braking is it my abs going out or is this how it works.

mine does that too, i just think thats how it works.....i hate abs in all situations...even coming up behind someone fast on a rainy freeway, i know not to lock them up, it takes away the feeling of being connected to the road somewhat....

That's how ABS works. It applies and releases the brakes rapidly in an attempt to control wheel lockup and maintain traction. If you're getting it while towing, I'd consider getting some trailer brakes!

As annoying as it is - that is proper ABS function. Pressing and releasing brakes in a rapid fashion so as not to lock up

I've had the EXACT same problem it makes like a loud noise to kinda scares me lol, and I thought my brake system was failing or something.

yeah i was gonna say if your pump was going out your ABS light would be coming on so it should be fine. I don't think i've ever felt mine in the rain like that, you must be slamming on the breaks?? I just felt mine when i was slippin in some mud or snow Oh what fun it is to ride!!

t4r abs is dangerous!!

The abs on these t4r's is downright dangerous! I'll tell ya, they say "oh you have to learn how to brake differently when you have advanced abs" I love that one. but what they cant answer is this.

If im braking lets say for a stop sign, decelerating from 30mph on a day where it rained in the morning and there is moisture on the ground and this particular road has a sewer cap between me and the stop sign.

I normally will either feel a little slide across the cap regaining traction on the other side or let off the brake for a second while passing over the cap and complete a normal stop.

But...

With the T4R ABS, the system detects a little slippage, and goes (lol) completely buck wild! , dropping the pedal from under my feet so fast that when my foot follows it down and even slightly touches the pedal, it has so much boost applied that it jerks the truck forward almost sending me through the windshield, then of coarse to avoid ending up on the hood, i lift my foot, but now here comes the stop sign so i apply the lightest pressure possible, which sends me into the noise dive again.

dont forget this happens in a split second, so the truck is jerking forward and backward and the pedal is possesed and the truck either doesnt stop for the stop sign or stops prematurely causing the guy behind me (if there was one) to slam into me.

the problem is that the system is not fast enough, ok fine detect some slip, drop the pedal, boost the power, but as soon as i release the brake and re press the brake the system should be back to mormal operation.

what if there were 2 stops signs 20 feet from each other and a sewer cap before the both of them. I should be able to slip on the sewer cap, abs kick in for the first stop sign, then lift off the pedal and brake for the 2nd stop sign in mornal mode.

srry for the ranting

If you're slipping on a manhole cover, then you need better tires.. or avoid the manhole cover..

Thats normal ABS function. What you feel in the brake pedal is the ABS pump bleeding brake pressure from that locked up wheel. It can bleed pressure faster that you or I can pumping the brakes with our foot.

The process is repeated continuously, and can be detected by the driver via brake pedal pulsation. A typical anti-lock system can apply and release braking pressure up to 20 times a second.
The harder you push on the brake pedal when the ABS pump is on the more brake pressure it bleeds form the locked wheel.

Me personally like ABS. I use it to gauge how slippery the roads are here in CT in the winter. But thats just me.
