What tools do you carry when going offroad?

I carry enough tools to fix anything(and always take a few welding rods), portable winch, snatch strap, jumper cables, sand anchor, spare lower ball joints(broke one once),two u-joints, oil, jerry can of gas, can of fix a flat, air compressor. I have all that in three milk crates ready to go. Leaves plenty of room for camping gear, adult beverages and my WIFE.

Your list looks a lot like mine. I have spare steering stuff, tire stuff, belts and hoses, all the tools and fixit stuff (wire, hose repair tape, gorilla tape, etc), I'm about to add a set of welding goggles and some rods to my pile. Eventually I'll have a spare third and birf, but I don't have those yet.

i know you're joking, but having a cell phone is smart.
you may have to hike for a while to get service, but it could save your ass.



as far as tools go, i wheeled for YEARS without so much as a pair of pliers. i just never broke.
finally, i built up a tool box, with random handtools, and a wheelbearing nut socket...
and started breaking shit...axles mostly.

A really important tool to me while off road is my ham radio. I have used it to call in rollovers and other emergencies where cell phones do not have any service.
I also carry all my hand tools, some spare parts, medical/trauma kit with medications, and a couple firearms.

Wrenches and sockets , fire extinguisher, small sledge hammer, axle nut socket, p.b.blaster, big c clamp, my cordless drill and sawzall, a breaker bar, zip ties, duct tape, hardware, a front shock, a CV joint, a chainsaw, a hi lift, axe, shovel, hand saw, flashlight, jumper pack, air compressor, full winch recovery kit , a machette, basic survival and fire starting kit, tire repair kit, c.b. radio. Floor jack, jack stands, wheel chock, a couple 2x6 blocks. The list goes on and on. I want to get a spare front wheel bearing assembly as a spare and I really need to get all my junk organized !

I have a 4ft long tourqe wrench that goes up to that, but I don't put it in the truck lol smart ass !
