And many dollars later in '02 and with double the HP and running low 12s at sea level but it was fun while it lasted and with the 4Runner I have less speeding tix and more money in the bank.

Before my 2002 4runner Limited 4wd, I had a 1997 Honda CRV AWD. Great little SUV...noisy, but to-hell-and-back reliable and was put together extremely well, even by Honda standards.

97 BMW 540 R48 - modified by Racing Dynamics

96 BMW Estoril M3 - track ready

03 BMW 330 ZHP - miss that car very much (probably always will)

2001 Explorer Sporttrac. Loved it, but gas mileage sucked. Put 100k on it, and would have kept it but the ac shredded itself and they wanted way to much to fix it compared to the value of the truck.

Last truck was an '08 Nissan Titan Crewcab.

The Titan was a good truck. Very powerful. It was just more truck than I really need.
I don't need to tow a 5 ton boat (that's a huge boat). Plus I bought it brand new.
I won't do that anymore. From now on I will only buy 2 or 3 year old vehicles.
The Titan got 11.7 mpg, and the trip computer on my 4Runner shows 22.1 avg mpg.

I got my 04 Runner to replace a 96 Ford Ranger 4.0 4x4 sc. It was a great rig for 5 years but the in the 6th year it started to fall apart. I did put 7 inches of lift, locker and tons of other mods on it and beat it pertty good. I do miss it for the fun factor and have to remind myself that it was a P.I.A. at the end. No looking back - I love my runner.

1969 Chevy Stepside

1983 Subaru GL Wagon (front wheel drive wagon with 4WD and 4Low :bigok: )

1986 Toyota 4Runner

2003 Subaru Legacy SE sedan

We traded in a 2002 Jeep Liberty on the 2008 V6 Limited T4R. The Jeep served us well--over 120K miles in six years--but we always wanted a Toyota SUV. Already got 15K on the new rig, and it seems to be living up to expectations. Enjoying much and learning more from this forum. Regards, Mike

2000 Toyota PreRunner v6 with TRD package.

Loved that truck until it was totaled in a nasty collision. Took a beating but it didn't cave in around me to much. Still want to get another one.

Last car was a '04 Subaru Outback LLBean. Prior to that....

'99 S-10 Blazer
'94 Cavalier Conv.
'91 Cavalier 4DR.

Prior vehicle was a 2000 Toyota Tacoma.
I had intended on driving it for another 10 years, but Toyota had a manufacturing defect back then which caused the frames to rust out prematurely. Toyota did stand behind their product, however, and bought it back from me. I bought the T4R as it's replacement because used Toyota pickup trucks in good condition are few & far between here, and I wanted to buy before winter settled in.

Although I like the 4Runner, I will always miss that Tacoma.

I voted domestic car/truck, I traded a 2006 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab 4x4 Z71 in on my "new" '08 4Runner just last week.

But I own 4-5 vehicles at one time. Back up to 5 drivers now - split between Toyota (2000 Tundra, 2008 4Runner) and Chevy (2007 M/C SS, 2003 Trailblazer 2WD, 2006 C6 Convertible).

The Tundra is my yard truck (and until now, my sole tow truck), the 4Runner my commuter. The Monte Carlo is the wife's commuter. The Chevy TB is my "business truck" and my Corvette is what my wife calls our "Sunday Car" since I don't take it out often - well, I don't take it out often in inclement weather, which is all we've had pretty much all this year.

Well, actually, I have a 6th vehicle, a 1950 Chevy P/U (5 window) that is in the middle of being resto-modded. But it's 6 months to a year from seeing the road, so I don't count it yet.

Shed the Colorado because: Even though it had every option Chevy offered through the LT3 trim and more, it didn't ride comfortably. The 3.5L L5 in it is woefully weak. The 2004-2006 3.5L L5 has impending cylinder head issues (got a letter from GM 3 weeks ago, traded it on 12/26/2008 rather than waiting on it to fail). Wanted a 4Runner for some time since the latest body style hit the market, found and fell for a nice 4Runner Limited - the rest is history.

My wife had an RX8 and I was driving an 1991 robins egg blue tercel aka the blue dragon. The RX8 was fun to drive but an extremely expensive car to own. I mean it got 14mpg with a 4 cylindar engine so i sold that and bought my 4 runner. That tercel was a beast though it had 224000 miles on it and somehow kept running.

Since 1995 I have owned.....

1. 1995 Honda Civic EX
2. 1995 Honda Accord EX
3. 2001 Acura Integra GSR
4. Silver 2004 Acura TSX
5. Carbon Grey 2005 TSX

and now my 2008 Toyota 4runner! I have loved all of my Honda/Acura's but it was time for a change and love my 4runner. I wished I would have purchased one years ago.

A Mazda RX8? Huh, I didn't think they had "cylinders", I thought they used Wankel 2-rotor (rotary) engines in those.

Yea, it's a 1.3 liter wankel, that puts out 237 HP. Those stats are pretty impressive, I think.
That's 182 HP per liter. Man, if my motor was a wankel = 4 liters x 182 = 728 HP! My 4R would haul booty.

I've had many vehicles before buying my Toyota - some domestic, some imports. But the vehicles I had just prior to getting my 4Runner (which I sold & traded in at the same time when I got it) were a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix Limited Edition, 1985 Dodge Ramcharger 4x4, and a Chevy S-10 (can't remember the year).

The Ramcharger and S-10 were great off-road trucks, but the Ramcharger was not running or broken more than it was road worthy (a big money pit), and the S-10 took a massive beating and kept going. Finally started acting up so I sold it for what I paid for it.

The 2003 Grand Prix was a rare car, as I'd only seen five other Limited Editions on the road since I bought it. It was actually a pretty fun car - while it was running. At about 63K miles, "something" stopped working correctly so it didn't run for crap. Dealer couldn't figure it out, spent around $1000 TROUBLESHOOTING & GOT NOWHERE! Then the dealership suggested changing a few other items, which would have been another $1500. I changed the suggested items myself for around $400, and that still didn't fix it.

Meanwhile, I was out shopping for a 4Runner, and when I found the one I wanted, I was just going to buy it outright as an add-on and keep the Grand Prix (since I had the grand Prix paid off). While wheeling-&-Dealing, the sales manager was being a d1ck in general, so after coming up with the deal for the 4Runner, I brought up trading in the GP. They didn't drive it, or even ask about the condition, and I didn't volunteer the info. They walked around it, started it up, & that was it. He should have been more thorough about checking my trade-in out.

These are the same guys who wanted to charge me almost $1300 for my timing belt R&R.:cursin:

I don't feel the least bit sorry about it. A$$holes.

A 1999 Range Rover HSE. Won't purchase a Range Rover again. The warranty goes out and everything fails. Put WAY too much money into that thing.

No sh!t bro! I had a 2000 Discovery, same experience. Would never buy a Rover again!

Actually, I would buy another Rover but only under one circumstance. If I win the lottery, I would buy 3 identical 2008 Range Rovers. With 3, hopefully one of them would be running without any problems while the other 2 are in the shop! LOL
