What winch do you guys recommend for a shrockworks bumper? It says accommodates upto a 9500 lb winch on their site. I'm leaning towards a Warn but they offer several models in that weight range. It's a bit confusing as to which one I should get. Are there comparable brands that are cheaper but as realiable as Warn?

If you don't need wireless remote and can easily reach clutch on winch, save the $ and get non plat edition. I bought the solenoid remote kit and didn't need it with my bumper. Not sure about Shrock.

I ordered a 9.5xp for my bumper but I dont have the bumper yet.
I ordered the wire rope version and then separately ordered synthetic.
Make sure you get a Hawse Fairlead before using the syn rope.

I did. Just didn't mention it above. I got one from Southeast Overland and got Viking rope with thimble from Alpha Expeditions. Total was less than the 9.5xps model.

Is the 8000 enough? I thought the rule of thumb was 1.5x vehicles weight? The 4Runner is 6300 lbs

Superwinch Talon 9.5SR (9500lb) will fit (confirmed w/ Shrockworks), comes w/ synthetic rope and Hawse fairlead and was built to use synthetic rope. Can find them online for around $1000. Would have to purchase the remote solenoid mounting kit to make it work for around $50. I think I'm going to go this route once I get my order in to Shrockworks.
I am also looking at the Viking GS-9 winch. Can get it with synthetic viking rope for around $1000 as well. Can't find many reviews from people who have them but this winch will also fit according to Mark at Shrockworks. Anybody have any experience with this winch?

Ok so I'm leaning towards a Warn XD9000 paired with winch line.coms 5/16 synthetic rope (5/16" x 100' Winch Line with Stainless Steel Thimble - Winchline.com) and a Factor 55 prolink (ProLink | Winch Safety Thimble | Factor 55). I could go down to the M8000 and get the rope and thimble above all for about 900 bucks. That would save me about 400 over the XD9000.

just so its known, you absolutely CAN use a roller fairlead with synthetic rope. you just have to make sure the rollers overlap. as far as I know, they all do. way back in the day they didn't, but anything manufactured in the last decade should. however it must be a NEW roller, as the used ones will tear up the rope very quickly.
while its not a warn, for much less than HALF, you can get this one, with synthetic rope.

Anyone know why they capped their winch size at 9.5? I recently bought an Engo 10000 w/ synthetic and the solenoids can be mounted in the engine bay; anyone know if the Engo 10,000 will fit? Again, I'd call them and ask, but they're closed. I really would like to make it work if I can...

You didn't need the remote? I would think the sss hybrid would be the one bumper where you would most need the remote clutch release.
