There are a few local dealers that sell Brute DK's. They run close to 100k.
A fully equipped and optioned Rubicon Stage 3 AEV runs north of 60k.
I wouldn't mind either, but both are far out of my price range.

When I saw the title of the thread, that is instantly what popped into my head... A Brute, that would be the only way. -at that point imo its not a j**p anymore its an AEV Brute that look similar to a j**p...

I keep wanting to get a used Jeep to run with the top down in the summer and fall months, but those I've ridden in have been drafty hell when the snow starts falling.
It'd have to be a third vehicle, and therefore cheap. Used is the only way to go for me.

Yeah, I've toyed with the idea of getting one (as a third car) and buying the pickup conversion package and doing the work myself. One of my kids graduates college in May so I will have one down, one to go for just two more years. I still like the idea of buying a Challenger SRT8 though.

Would do it for me as well but I wouldn't pay more than $25k. I can only imagine how much they'll ask.

The one in the pic is 130k - it's a Filson edition of an AEV conversion. Just the Brute conversion is 40k, and you have to supply the Wrangler.
By comparison, I haven't even hit 5k on my '85 yet, and that's counting what I paid for it and what I've got into it. I don't think I'll be driving a Jeep any time soon.

My dad's is pretty awesome. Its an 04 Unlimited, with a transplanted Chevy 327 in it. It sounds amazing. Granted its just a street queen, but I have no shame driving around in it.

I'd pick up a Wrangler Unlimited or Cherokee for the right lease amount. If they brought back the Commander I might get the 4R keys out of my wife's hands again.
I've been on the lookout for a cheap XJ here for cash too. Granted... not looking very hard, but they are like rabbits (or prairie dogs) in CO.

What would it take? Wresting the keys from my wife since we own an '06 LJ. Its got a 2.25" JKS lift in front and a 1.75" Rubicon Exp. spacer in back. 33/10.50 BFG ATs on the stock rims. Dana 44 rear. Ive owned an SJ, YJ, MJ, XJ, and now the Unltd. which we used to pull our tent trailer. Never had any issues with any of them.

That's what it took for my 15 year old nephew. My brother in law just picked up a '10 Rubicon at auction for him, that is built. Heavy duty aftermarket axles with selectable lockers front and rear, T-case, lift, 35" tires, armor, etc. My nephew is really excited, and can't wait to get his full license.
The one thing that should keep my nephew a little safer while he gains experience driving, is that gutless 3.8 V6. Even with the proper gearing, it is an underpowered pig on road. Off-road in low-range, it is a crawling machine.
I told my brother in law, we could fix the power issue with a 6.4 Hemi swap, but that it's probably not the best idea for a soon-to-be 16 year old kid.
