If you want to maximize your dollar, I'd put car #2 back to stock and part out the aftermarket stuff separately...you're never going to get anywhere near your money's worth selling it as is. As far as car #1, I'd probably lean towards just keeping it if you have the space, and if insurance is not through the roof for it in your neck of the woods.

To put things in perspective, I guess you will probably get only enough money from selling that 93 civic to just purchase a nice set of AT tires for the new 4runner, lol. IMO, I'd just keep it to have a spare dependable beater around.

On the other hand, if you're not too attached to the g35, that is probably the one I'd get rid of in a heart beat. It's not too old and still has some value to it, so you might as well get rid of it while you can get some decent money for it.

All good ideas. I agree, I will take the performance parts off the Si and sell them separately. Changing out the suspension will be a small headache, but the rest of the stuff will be pretty easy.

I tend to think I will keep the 93 Civic. It gives me lots of peace of mind to drive it. The G35 is staying with me

well if you have a G35 in your driveway/garage and you drive a civic most of the time, then you have more self control than i.... and hats off to you...

It is really not easy to leave the G35 behind. It's so much fun to drive. On the other hand, it's nice to squeeze my '93 Civic into a tiny, "compact" parking space and know that my G35 is warm at home I also feel that starting the G35 up to drive it 6 miles to work is not the best use of its virtues. That's it!!! I'm driving the G all weekend now!

BTW, you have a really nice ride there! Very nicely modded! I want one.

I had a 2000 Civic SI and a 2007 G35 coupe. They are both greatly missed but I needed more room.

Edit: Sell me the SI. I miss mine.

I already know I will miss the Si. I'm really dragging my feet to sell it. Hopefully, replacing it with a kick ass T4R will help me look past it

If it where me I would sell the SI snd G35. Ive owned fast luxurious cars for years and once I finally bought my supercharged tacoma 4x4 I realized the versatility for offroading, towing, moving, camping, lower insurance, cost of ownership, reliability, room for family and friends, while still allowing me to smoke most sedans on the road was enough to say bye bye to my mint Nissan sr20det turbo sitting in the garage 80% of the time. There's just something about owning a clean eyecatching truck even a slow one at that, that you just can't get with a sports car. Especially the looks on there faces after they try to get the jump or cut you off and you smoke em! I say sell both and buy yourself the cleanest low mileage 3rd gen you can find drop some additions to make it your own and add a turbo kit such as STS turbo now you've got yourself a tank that will literally smoke your g35 and its something no one has or is expecting! Or even get a 4th gen and turbo/supercharge that! In the end you'll save on insurance/depreciation and if you need to travel long distance just drive your civic. If it where me I would ensure my most expensive car I owned was the one I was driving most. What's the point of tying up money into something your taking out on Saturday.. That's me though! I lost that luxery with a house and kids..

I think [MENTION=60147]the kid[/MENTION] summed it up very well on the last page, but here's my thoughts anyways:

Before I even start to think about cars I want, I look at the financials. Do you have debt apart from the house? If so, I would highly recommend sell all but the beater and attack the debt like crazy. The best feeling in the world with any car is knowing that you own it outright and you don't have stupid rip off monthly payments. That feeling never goes away, unlike the sex factor of a nice whip which, at some point sooner or later, will fade.

I'm not ripping anyone for having car payments, btw. I just hate debt with a passion, and that comes before the car fever every time. Having an awesome car while feeling chained to the bank is just not worth the freedom in driving that beater!!! Own it baby!

But if you don't have debt, then you can pretty much do whatever you want. My advice, since you don't sound like you log that many miles per year, is to sell two of the cars anyways. If you like the Infinity, great. Or, if you are content with either Civic and want to save a little money (it adds up quick), that's awesome too. But if you are a true PNW guy at heart and would rather go anywhere anytime, get rid of all 3 after you find that 4Runner of your dreams. You will save huge money on your insurance, and will have a car that you truly love to drive every time you get in it. And as far as what year, I think it's pretty hard to beat a clean 3rd gen with low miles. Mods will come in time when you can accurately determine which mods you will actually appreciate or use.

As far as the chick factor goes, ladies do like fast cars. But it is in my experience that being able to throw your 4Runner into 4WD and navigating up to a secluded spot with a beautiful view will trump speed all day. And there are a lot of incredible views to be found up here in the PNW. Bangerang!

I still want to try to hold onto the G35, and it is within my budget. It's more about the feel of the drive, including corners, than it is the speed. I'm sure a 4Runner can be made plenty fast, especially off the line with 4x4 I'm not big on challenging anyone off the line, but I do like a good blast through some on-ramp curves - maybe hang the rear tires out a little. My G sits in the garage largely because I have 2 other cars to drive and one of them parks on the street.

Kix, you do bring up a good point, about finances. That belongs in the conversation too. I am pretty conservative about the money I spend. If I sell the SI, I can pretty much pay out of pocket for a used 4Runner and have a little money left over. If I find the 4R of my dreams, I will finance it only until I sell off the SI. Other than that, I don't plan to have car payments on it.

It's really tough to sell what I have ... The DX is basic transportation, not pretty, not nice, not really comfy, bad stereo, not worth much to sell, a pleasure to park in a bad neighborhood, etc. The SI is a huge step up from that. More of everything, including enjoyment to drive, with a little economy, and a horror to park in a bad neighborhood. The G35 is a huge step up from that, in all areas. IMO, it is exactly what a sport-luxury car should be...

...and then I spot a nice, clean 2000-2002 4Runner, with a small lift and 35s and other goodies, and I can't help but stare and imagine where I could take it!!
