What would you do?

Well I should be getting my tax return back and after discussing with the Fiance it looks like I will be spending about $400 of it on myself (my 4Runner ).

My original plan was to buy the OME 3" lift kit from Toytec with the differential drop, install it and drive it with the 265/70's for a while (probably until the beginning of next year).

Now I am starting to think that I'm not going be happy with the lift and 31's and maybe the money would be better spend elsewhere.

So consult my sig. to see what I already have done and let me hear your ideas!

you have a nice 4runner already, i dont know with my tax money if i should get a daystar lift just for looks and ride with my stock tires till i need new ones so i'm kinda in the same hole.

maybe you could add some protection up front of some cosmetics like a brush guard or something?

Yes, I have thought about getting a pair of sliders. Thats one of the things on my list if I don't get the lift. I'm also running the 265/70s (31s).

Right now most likely if I don't get my lift I will be getting the 80gig Ipod and then picking up some little things like clear bumper lenses and TRD stickers.

wait on sliders, those are a better accessory to a lift. don't do a brush guard, in my opinion they're stupid and actually make frontal accidents more prone to damage in some cases. you can check out a new bumper altogether, like the tjm 17.

I don't want a brush guard. I think they are pointless, and IMO don't look very good on 4Runners. No offense to anyone who has one or wants one, they just aren't my style. I have thought about a bumper, but I don't really have the money for one yet, and think it would look kind of out of place on a stock 4Runner. Plus when I get a bumper I really like the Shrockworks bumper.

I may just save it for the OBX trip, but I already have a good amount of money set aside from my tax return for all of that. And by proper suspension lift do you mean one with coils and shocks? I was just going to replace the shocks at a later date if I went with the OME coils.

If you're doing a lift, do it right the first time. Which means doing a complete kit instead of doing springs now then shocks later. If you don't have the cash for it, then just save.

Personally, I'd do tires first (265/75/16). It will give you a .5" to 1" lift. Then when you decide to do a lift, it will look much better.

Yeah thats what I meant, as apposed to a spacer lift which you could easily afford with $400.
If you shop around and watch all the forum classifieds you could end up with a lift pretty cheap. Over the last 2 months I have bought
New OME890 coils $120 shipped
Used N86 shocks (5k miles) $90 shipped
New Tundra TRD front coils $30.99 shipped (thank you ebay )
Used top plates $10
I just need the front struts and I'm basically done, and I've only forked out $251 so far.

Well I definately do not want a spacer lift. The lift that I'm looking at is all OME coils + a front topout spacers. I believe its 881/890 coils. I was thinking of installing this kit now and getting shocks later but I don't really know anymore..lol.

I bought monroe matic plus gas struts and shocks for $157 shipped from A-1parts.com and a set of Performance Products springs for $298 shipped. I just finished the install today and it feels amazing. Not bumpy or bouncy or too stiff, just really really nice!
